Drama #161

With blood on her hands, the infamous Dolores Roach has fled the recent shocking destruction in Washington Heights and gone into hiding deep under New York City in an abandoned subway tunnel. But she’s not alone underground, and her dark night of the soul is interrupted by an extremist faction of similarly self-exiled tunnel-dwellers whose space she's invaded. Facing re-incarceration back above ground, but pushed to the limits of shame, paranoia, lust, hunger, and depraved entrepreneurialism below it, Dolores is the outcast of the outcasts again - until she takes her survival in the tunnels into her own Magic Hands. Season 2 of The Horror of Dolores Roach is written and directed by Aaron Mark and stars Daphne Rubin-Vega, Donnell Rawlings, and Amy Ryan.

    Where did it go???
I love this show and was ready to re-listen. So sad that all but one episode have disappeared. The real horror of the story is that it's all gone 😩 Did it all move to Spotify or something? Please no! I'm not a Spotify user and I desperately want to know what happens next.

    Thrilling, horrific and awesome
This fictional podcast keeps me on the edge of my seat. Creatively written to take place in our contemporary world. The story makes you feel contradiction for the main character. A must listen !

    Wow!
By far the most enjoyable podcast I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. The acting is excellent and every part of the story is completely engaging. I’m legit depressed that I finished the last episode today.

    Jumped the shark
**spoiler alert** The actors are excellent, and I found that Dolores’ character really drew me in and was compelling. However, it was a big stretch when a seemingly non-violent ex-con suddenly impulsively murdered a landlord with whom it seemed she had some empathy as she seemed appalled that Luis was paying nothing for rent. Then Luis, the stoner empanada chef suddenly can expertly butcher and clean up a human body in a presumed busy building in the middle of NYC?!? It was too much for me to believe and not really justification for the sudden dramatic increase in gore in the story. Maybe later in the show, these plot twists are made somehow believable or interesting, but I didn’t bother. I was done with everyone raving about the human special empanadas. Soilent green is people! 🙄

    Out of this world!
I’ve never written a review before now. I listen to podcasts during the long lonely hours I spend cleaning houses. This podcast had me mesmerized. I honestly felt like I was in a theatre. What’s next? That was fantastic. Thank you Michelle

Binged. Do yourself a favour and listen to the ending with your eyes closed!
Deliciously horrifying, delightfully disturbing, and phenomenally acted. Told from a really interesting perspective and incredibly immersive. I had no idea the horror genre could be so well suited to this format. Deserves to become a cult classic. Do yourself a favour and listen to the ending with your eyes closed!

    Great Story
I loved the series and was hooked from the first episode. Highly recommend anyone who loves horror fiction podcasts. Only downside is the ending, which I thought was a bit underwhelming and confusing.

    Unexpected
Unexpected, bizarre but captivating. As always, Gimlet delivers a wonderful listening experience in terms of quality you feel like you are in Delores’ world. However, I was let down at the “horrific” end because I just feel something is missing. Potentially this feeling is what was intended so the listen is left with questions that will hopefully be answered in part 2?

    My favourite gimlet fiction show
The story and writing is gripping. There is so much tension, the actors are fabulous, I have totally imagined the world of Dolores the way a good book puts you in the story. By far my favourite Gimlet audio fiction story by far!
