This is a great podcast focusing on nonfiction themes and reviews. Alice and Kim clearly care about their topics, and I enjoy their honest reflections on other things too.

Even though I am thoroughly a fiction fan, this lively and wide-ranging podcast keeps me motivated to round out my reading. Thanks to Alice and Kim, I’ve found some of my favorite reads outside my traditional comfort zone. Give them a listen.

This is one of my favorite podcasts — each episode is like catching up with friends. Kim and Alice make me laugh, keep me updated on book news, and of course help me add to my to-read list.

I teach a high school English course comprised mostly of non-fiction, and I often point to this podcast to give my students ideas for reading material. Alice and Kim do such a great job of suggesting/evaluating books that may not necessarily be on the bookstagram radar, which I so appreciate (I read The Great Beanie Baby Bubble at Kim’s suggestion and found it fascinating), and I love their conversations—they are both brilliant and empathetic, and you can tell they genuinely care about each other and their podcast.

Alice and Kim offer smart, funny recommendations across a range of non-fiction sub genres. Listening to them is like spending time with witty, warm friends!

I listen to (roughly) a million book podcasts, and this is by far my favorite. It’s a bit surprising, as literary fiction is actually my genre of choice, but Kim and Alice are so enthusiastically convincing and DELIGHTFUL! My TBR pile is now comprised of many former For Real recommendations. (I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ones I’ve finished already.) This podcast makes me happy; thanks for being born, you guys!

I’m a pretty picky nonfiction reader so I love the range of books talked about here. I always find a few new titles I’m interested in. Now, I may never get them read, but I’ll have fun trying!

This is a double edged sword for me. I was searching for resources to expand my exposure to non fiction and boy did I find it here! My to read list always grows by 2 or more books with each listen. My list is growing faster than I can read. :-) To answer your survey, I love all the current segments, not just 1 in particular.

I was in a non-fiction reading slump earlier this year...but then I found Kim and Alice and their wonderful podcast. Now my bookshelves are bursting with great non-fiction titles that I can’t wait to start reading! Thanks for focusing on an often ignored genre!

I love the structure of this podcast - new books, theme, what they’re reading - and how excellent the hosts are at sharing airtime. They take turns and don’t interrupt each other and each get about half the talk time. Such a pleasure to listen to. And bonus, it lets me feel like I’m reading more nonfiction, and more books in general, without reading them. Kim and Alice do a great job summarizing the books they talk about so I often learn something from the synopsis they give without having to read the whole book.

The answer is yes. Five stars

But seriously this is a great podcast for anyone who loves nonfiction books. Every episode contains informative recommendations across a wide range of nonfiction genres. Even if your nonfiction reading has a relatively narrow focus, you will learn about books you will want to read from this podcast.

This podcast is my favorite of the many book related podcasts I have in regular rotation. The hosts are smart and fun. I love when Kim says, “That was a good pick, Alice!”

As an adult who recently became visually impaired, I have become increasingly reliant upon podcasts to learn about new releases and interesting backlist titles I may have missed. Many book podcasts focus on fiction titles, which I read. But I also enjoy reading memoirs, biographies, contemporary culture surveys and history titles, all of which are discussed here. Kim and Alice have an easy and engaging dynamic, and their enthusiasm for the nonfiction world is infectious. I appreciate how well these podcasts are organized, with a section on new releases, another on book news, and a third on books concerning their topic for that podcast. I am constantly adding to my tbr list from their recommendations, and I spend a fair amount of time reading (in audiobook format). I attend a monthly history book group and appreciate their timely, intriguing recommendations which I share with other members (and recommend the podcast as well!). Just and enjoyable, informative podcast with two terrific hosts. Thanks, Michelle

I love this podcast! I listen to lots of bookish podcasts and sadly sometimes nonfiction gets overlooked. Kim and Alice are so thoughtful and fun to listen to. I have picked up a lot of great books because of them!

This is a great podcast. They talk about non-fiction, which sometimes is overlooked. These two ladies run a good show and I have already purchased and read several of their recommendations.

I love Alice and Kim’s recommendations. They do a nice combination of new releases and older titles (read: easier to get from the library!). Plus, they are hilarious and have great rapport. One of my favorite podcasts.

If you look at my goodreads tbr, it’s SO obvious when I started listening to this podcast. I feel like I’ve really diversified my reading life because of it (I used to not really read much nonfiction), and I have to say every time Alice says “my girlfriend” my wlw heart gains 10 HP (also Kim’s voice is adorable)

Seriously good listening here. They always have tons of nonfiction books to recommend and interesting thoughts about each. New books plus a theme for other recommendations every week, my TBR list keeps growing!

Kim and Alice are wonderful hosts with excellent book recs. They keep the show entertaining - I definitely love listening to them. This is one show I look forward to and listen to as soon as it comes out, and I always come away with at least a few additions to my books-to-read list!

I’m so happy that BookRiot has come out with a nonfiction books recommendation podcast to match their other genre specific shows. The ladies who host this one are also, in my opinion, the best hosts in the BR family. They are mostly prepared and don’t wander off topic. I get lots of great recommends from the show.

This is the best of the book riot podcasts. The hosts are excellent; they don't do that Book Riot thing of dwelling too long on a subject. These hosts seem to be more aware of pacing and how to transition between subjects. It would be nice to see other Book Riot podcasts learn from these two. Keep up the good work.

I enjoy most of the Bookriot podcasts, but have to admit that I have no interest in YA or SFF, so I was refreshing to find this podcast dedicated to those that enjoy all forms of non-fiction! My TBR has already been stretched to capacity after only a few episodes. Looking forward to more for them ladies. ♥️♥️

I listen to a LOT of podcasts, but this is one of only a few I've listened to more than once. Alice and Kim are smart and funny, and I've already read a sweet little book about snails I never would have known existed without them.

Smart compatible hosts; broad range of nonfiction interest; minimal small talk at the top of the podcast; when they do go off on a tangent it's an interesting one. I wish it was weekly instead of biweekly.

I have listened to and enjoyed several of the book riot podcasts, but I've been wishing for one that would discuss a wide range of nonfiction. I've listened to the first two episodes, and this podcast is exactly what I was hoping for. I love the format, and the hosts are engaging and fun!

I looooooove this podcast! I’m a big fiction reader, but have trouble find nonfiction that works for me (I’ve been permanently scared by years of wading deep into theory for my degree). The recommendations I get from this podcast have me excited to dive into nonfiction post-graduation. And the host have a lovely back and forth going on. I give this podcast five tall stacks of books (out of five).

What a fun podcast! I love reading and am always looking for recommendations. I’m not the biggest fan of non-fiction, but Kim & Alice make me want to read ALL the non-fiction. It made me laugh out loud multiple times. Can’t wait for the next one!
