A must listen for any fan of stand up comedy
Being a life long fan of stand up comedy I was looking for something to listen to to enrich my knowledge of the behind the scenes of stand up. I got that and so much more from The History of Standup. I wholeheartedly recommend this podcast to any fan of comedy!

Wow! The best comedy podcast or any podcast hands down
It’s obvious they put a ton of work into every episode. The hosts do a great job of letting the subject shine. This is not one of those thrown together podcasts where the hosts talk all over each other trying to be entertaining. This is a high quality, in depth, well-researched, and fun podcast. Simply the tops. If you love comedy, history, or are a fan of podcasts, you really need to listen and subscribe to this podcast. You’ll be so glad you did.

    Interesting, funny & enjoyable
Started listening to season 2 on accident and loved it so much I went back to listen to season 1. I finished both seasons in 3 days because they are so great. If you have ever been interested in stand up comedy such as when it started or what were some of the best clubs to catch a good comic, this podcast is it. I love how the guys splice in interviews with comics and some of their stand up jokes. I can’t wait for season 3.

    Heavily Weighted To Recent Times
This is a great history of standup comedy. You will learn a lot, especially about the comedians from before you were born. However, like most modern historians trying to tell you the entire story, it is heavily weighted towards what has happened most recently. Similar to the history of baseball, the “greatest” and most talked about players are those who played most recently. There is not enough balanced discussion of the greats from many decades ago. A more balanced history would spend equivalent amounts of time on each decade, rather than discounting the historical segments of the past, spending too much time on “recent” history. Heavy emphasis on recent internet comedy at the expense of the previous television, radio, and vaudeville eras. Nevertheless, I highly recommend listening to all of these episodes.

    Required Curriculum
If I was gonna teach, or take a class on comedy of any form... I would 100% expect this to be a required part of the curriculum. Every young comic should know this stuff and every comedy nerd will love it.

    More! More!
Absolutely terrific treatment of comedy history. In hindsight, hearing how great it is, I wish they had taken more time with the chronology. With this superb quality, I would embrace 100 episodes. Thank you!

    Thorough and fun!
I'm a huge fan of standup and comedy in general. I've listened to every episode of The History of Standup, and I'm blown away. I'll be 70 in December, so I lived through a lot of the history covered so far. The episodes have brought back great memories, and they've also given me behind-the-scenes insights into specific comedians and venues. I've also appreciated learning more about what modern comedians are doing. Well done!

    Amazing!
Great podcast! Wayne is very knowledgeable and Andrew provides a great role as a “layman” so it’s not too “inside baseball”. I love the tempo of the podcast, it’s not just people yelling and talking over each other. I very much like the style of interjecting recorded bits as a supplement to what they’re talking about, whether it be interviews or bits. It’s very methodical, well thought out, and easy to listen to. Even if you don’t have an unhealthy obsession with comedy like some of us, still a great podcast!

    A Comedy Nerd’s Dreamcast
The beauty of the History of Standup is that it mixes thing you know with things you THINk you know with things about most of us had no idea. A splendid stroll down Standup Comedy lane, helping us understand not only how Comedy has evolved, but how we as a culture have evolved along with it. Throughly enjoyable balance of host-talking, interviews, and primary-source material.

    History Is Evergreen
This is a fun listen. Wayne Federman is a comedy great and a joy to spend time with; for both his co-host and everyone else. The topic is inherently compelling and entertaining. Wanye Federman is as skilled an interlocutor as one could hope for, when tracing the history of stand-up. History always offers an appealing refuge from the troubles of the world; just like the art-form of comedy, itself. Listeners can begin at any episode and complete the series in any order.

LOVE THE HISTORY OF STANDUP SO MUCH
This is the podcast I didn’t know I needed but now I know it is everything! In a world gone mad I’m ecstatic to know there’s now a podcast that describes the thing that will save us all. Comediy nerds talking about comedy to comedy nerds. As someone who’s been lucky enough to live through both comedy boons, I hope this one will never end, but will just morph into newer and newer forms. Thanks to Wayne Federman and Andrew Steven for getting this podcast up on stage. Hoping for many more acts (aka-seasons)to follow. After all, I’ve gotta keep drinking the comedy kool-aid to stay in the club. 👍😊💕

    Federman does it again!
Everything Wayne Federman touches, turns to gold. Be it standup comedy, acting, critiquing the music of Eagles (NOT The Eagles... just Eagles), reading aloud from a KISS autobiography, etc This man is an American treasure. We now add podcast hosting to his ever growing list of achievements. Bravo my man, and I hope to be in LA on Nov 18th to expereince this LIVE!!!

    Fantastic History of Comedy
Listened to all 6 in one day, so yeah I’m a fan. For such a brief overview of such a big topic, the breadth of coverage is great. Great format and interplay with The (Adjunct) Professor and Fellow Student, their skills combine for a really enjoyable listen! Learned a lot, took notes of books to read, and making playlists to get deeper into the older stuff.

    So good

    Terrifically Entertaining!
I checked out this show because I'm a fan of stand-up comedy in general, and Wayne Federman in particular. I had high expectations, but even those were exceeded. This podcast features keenly interesting historical information, performance clips, and interviews all mixed with Andrew Steven's guiding narration. Extremely well produced and presented in breezy 30-40 minute episodes. I look forward to hearing more from Wayne and Andrew, and hope this show will continue a long while!

    Consistently entertaining and informative
This is one of the most well-crafted, enjoyable podcasts I have ever heard. Using comedy footage, interviews, conversation and well engineered sound they provide a fast moving entertaining podcast. I always want more when it ends- how often can you say that?
