X-dissapointedLost African Soul founds its way backI love this podcast. I’m not sure why it took so long for me to discover it. I left Africa years ago for greener pastures but there not so green. Add to that, I feel lost. Not from here but forgotten my home. Listening to these stories brings back there. I imagine the people, the places, in my head and I look forward to living there again. I wish we had more of these stories told not only on podcasts but books, movies etc.

Chi-LeiIn depth and individualizingGives day to day people from various African nations a voice and perspective. It challenges us, many of whom being from the West, to not see groups as simply that. We are all individuals! It’s in depth, and I enjoy the relatable (or new) common threads.

camping crafterBrilliant new podcastI think it is fair to say that virtually anyone will find they learn new information and perspectives while listening to this podcast. Topics are comprehensively researched and presented in a way that someone from really any background can understand the issues and the larger societal ramifications of what is discussed. As a middle aged white woman from the United States, I am so grateful for the many aspects of African life explored in this podcast. I especially appreciate the way you explain how different life is from one country to another and the differences between urban and rural life. A beautiful, thoughtfully told topic in every podcast.

G LaughAfrica how I love theeThis podcast has become a lifeline for me during this “pandemic era”. The topics are real, raw and engaging. I have heard stories from corners of the continent I would have normally never heard a blip about on traditional news. Kim and her correspondents bring each story to life and it’s simply beautiful. If you’re not listening what are you waiting for? Favorite podcast from the BBC

Lucy_Lulu_LuciaTypical brilliance from Kim Chakanetsa!I first became enchanted with Kim in her BBC podcast, The Conversation. She is equally witty, warm, and curious in this series. She and co-host Olivia look at contemporary African stories all too often overlooked in Western media – with panache, sensitivity, and honesty. (I thought the millenial woman’s experience of renting a house in Boston, USA, was tough, but the episode “Single Women Not Welcome” in Lagos gave me a whole new perspective!) Love, love, love this series. The sound quality, original music, and art make it a perfect production!
