    A beautiful, human, story
Your relationship with your mom is adorable and special. Those voices in some of our heads can be very negative. She is a reflection of many, many, people, but her story (and of course, herself) is very unique. Thank you to your mom for her vulnerability with sharing her trauma, and I am so elated for her that she and Natasha have been given a chance (through you) to re-write that narrative and shift that perspective of herself to one that’s healthier and healing.

    Beautiful Story
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story! It showed it’s NEVER too late to start your healing journey! What a beautiful story of timeless friendship! Would have loved to see video of their reunion on zoom and in person attached in the episode notes if possible.

    A Beautiful Gem
Thank you for this. It was touching to have an insight to what was ultimately a love letter from a son to his mother. To resolve something for her that seemed so insurmountable for her entire life, give her closure, as well as open the door to a resumed/ pivotal friendship and a re-framing of her memories and self worth/ life achievements. It also gave a peek into a time and a place that is mostly hidden from the western world. It was short, but lovely, beautiful, and sweet. What a gift!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story
I found the story very interesting and and appreciated hearing about her experience. Also, I love the mom. I found her so funny. Thank you for sharing! I wonder if it’s at all possible if the narrator could find out more family history about his grandfather‘s time being rescued from the holocaust on the kinder transport. I would love to hear more about his life.

    So boring
Couldn’t get past episode three hoping that there be some kind of cliffhanger or something interesting about the story was left empty

    Great story
I listened to it all in one day, great story but hate the way he treats his mum

    So touching!
I loved listening to this. Great storytelling and what a generous gift to find Natasha for his mum! I am left with a couple of burning questions, though. Does Natasha have any insight about the isolation and water only diet? Was the plan to just let her waste away? And was Natasha given the job of getting Debbie out of the country or was it a secret mission?

    Binge listened in a day
Deeply touching story, told beautifully by those who were there. Very meaningful to those of us who have thrown ourselves on the pyre of ballet, but no interest in ballet required in order to love it.

What a great story! Worth every moment.
This is such a great story and going on the journey is amazing. Trying not to give too much away from the podcast. I have so many thoughts. I hope the main character knows how brave she truly was to have gone on this journey. I was 17 in 1984 and the USSR was a mysterious, scary place. For her to have taken the leap and then have the chance to revisit her story. Hope to find more podcasts by this host. Cannot recommend enough.

    Lovely story, well told
I enjoyed listening to this story - I wish there was more details about Natasha’s life - perhaps another episode?! Wishing all the best to Debbie and Natasha♥️

    Ridiculous
This is a ridiculous podcast. It’s offensive to Natasha. It’s offensive to Russia. It’s the attention seeking narrative of a victimy - glass half empty - delusional seeming drama queen. The host’s mom just made her youthful thoughts into her truth. Bonkers.

    Friends
Thank you Jake. I’m so glad this story was not lost. Both girls made courageous choices of different sorts. It is nice to know the bonds of two teenagers endured through all those years.

Great show but the host seems stupid
It’s not that hard to find people. The host seems a bit inept.

    Brilliantly message
I came upon this randomly, and absolutely loved it, and was moved to tears in the end. Loved the idea of researching a parent’s memory and gaining perspective, as well as the evolution of your mom’s perspective.

    Absolutely ♥️’d this story❣️
Came upon this podcast and was totally enthralled and had to listen to all in one sitting! So happy this had a happy ending considering the mistreatment. (Greasy hair-lol🤣) I was able to see Mikhail Baryshnikov in a performance here in Los Angeles quite some years back-he was amazing!
