I love love love this podcast. I just discovered it, and I’m binging the episodes! I really enjoy listening to the interviews with cp artists. I find them to be very encouraging and inspirational. It gets me excited to think about my own possibilities as a cp artist. I also enjoy the other podcasts where John and Barb give very practical advice on how to improve as an artist. I enjoy this podcast more than any other. John & Barb are so much fun to listen to. They are relatable, smart and accomplished. They make me feel like I CAN progress in my art (Things to Stop Telling Yourself) They discuss the hows of colored pencil and inspire me to explore different papers, different pencils, etc. I’ve dropped the perfectionism and am more free to ENJOY this medium and soon others. I can’t wait for August and more episodes. Thank you!

Yes, literally, I get anxious waiting for a new episode to came out. I learn so much with this podcasts, every single one gives me an advice, and when it is an interview I learn so many tips, techniques ideas and way of working that I only can have in a masters class. Thank you for the Sharpened Artist team and a special thanks to the people that accept to be interviewed and share their knowledge.

Easy to listen to, John Middick and his guests always provide informative content relevant to anyone who loves the medium of colored pencils or wants to learn more about this ever changing method of creating art. So much new to explore and this podcast makes it fun and exciting!

I have been listening to this podcast since I rediscovered my passion for art and seriously decided to learn everything I could to stay up to most current artists, techniques, and much more. I wait with excitement for every new episode as I know that I will learn something. The artists I have discovered, the tips I have learned, the products I never heard of, this has been truly a huge value for me as it has greatly impacted the progression of my art. I believe many will join me in feeling the same way. There is a lot of hard work that goes into making each episode happen and all for free advice. I’m so thankful to be able to enjoy the podcasts.

Update - I decided to give this podcast another try. I was thrilled to find that Lisa is no longer on there. I can't wait to dive into episodes after her departure! I think it's great that there is finally a podcast for colored pencil artists. However, one of the hosts (Lisa) is obnoxious, condescending and arrogant. It really takes away from the show to have her interrupt the other host constantly and talk poorly about customers and (quite frequently) other artists. Additionally, I wish the show was longer, but seeing as how I'm so utterly annoyed by Lisa, I'm not entirely certain I want to be subjected to an additional minute of her attitude.

Really awesome show. It’s helped me find other artists and learn so much about the medium and other great art information. Thank you keep up the great work.

Five Stars!!! John Middick and his Sharpened Artist Academy... Where can I begin? John is a wonderful instructor, and great interviewer! On this podcast, he interviews the top artists who are active in the colored pencil community. There are interviews with the best of the best. The word “community” describes this podcast well. The emphasis of the interviews is to get to know the artist being interviewed, and to share their journey with other artists who are learning and growing. The interviews are heartfelt and inspiring. I look forward to them every week. And, if you haven’t checked out the “Sharpened Artist Academy”, I would highly recommend it. John has carefully developed courses that are detailed and engaging. Another great perk is his online office hours, where he and his students can meet and discuss anything related to colored pencil art - and it’s amazing how much we all share and learn each week. Truly a great community!

This podcast no only teaches me valuable techniques to colored pencil, but helps motivate me to creat art. It’s a great encouragement and can be used as an accountability art coach.

When this podcast was New there were episodes on technique, interviews with colored pencil artists, and reviews. This podcast has now devolved into a running commentary on using social media for an art business. Gone are the interviews, techniques, etc. that made it interesting.

I look forward to each new podcast and frequently replay older podcasts for the content and humor. I can’t get enough of Lisa’s YouTube channel (I am learning so much!) and am a Patreon supporter as well. John and Lisa cover a multitude of topics ranging from equipment reviews (my wallet thanks you so much) to handling social media, to transitioning to art full time to Q and A to interviews. Really an outstanding podcast.

I never though an art podcast would be so helpful. Lisa and John discuss everything related to colored pencils and there are some great tips in their episodes. They also keep it light with playful banter which makes them a joy to listen to. My favorite episodes are the interviews. Keep up the great work!
