    Half baked conspiracies
I’m open minded; I started following this show because the host interviewed someone I’m interested in, Richard Metzger. I believe in magic. But I’m not so open-minded as to have lost my discernment. These are half baked conspiracies. You believe that Kamala Harris had a wire concealed in her earring during the debate with Trump? OK, this is your guy. But that is so easily debunked. And this show is chock full of that sort of misinformation. spreading misinformation is a satanic task, because the world needs clarity at this moment in time. As such, we have to denounce this show as a willing or unwilling tool of evil. Unfollow.

    Great show
    Knowledgeable host with great guests.

    Obliviously entitled
There have been some really wonderful guests on this podcast throughout the years (and plenty of ones I have skipped past), but I am finding myself increasingly annoyed with Gordon’s sense of entitlement + condescension/narcissism which has become clearer and clearer to me with each episode I listen to. The real kicker for me was the latest astrology forecast episode featuring an ever-patient Austin Coppock. First, after Austin describes his traumatic year of having a family member murdered, and Gordon doesn’t even whisper an “I’m sorry to hear that” in response before quipping about his comparably great trauma of having had …an annoying vacation? Then, when they are discussing the possible nightmare scenarious that the age of aquarius might ring in (a few things I can think of: more worldwide genocides, climate catastrophe, nuclear war, increased famine, etc), Gordon keeps bringing up “digital passports” as being the most oppressive thing he can think of. To me, it really showed what a place of privilege (and self-absorption?) he is coming from!

Did Gordon always cut people off?
Or is this late stage Gordon? Yes, brilliant- but also so annoying to listen to self congratulatory pseudo intellectual diatribe.

    Obsessed with USA
Red pilled Australian man obsessed with USA unsuccessfully trying to hide boring right wing talking points in pseudo, spiritual, mumbo-jumbo language.

A wonderful host and great guests!
I have been listening to Rune Soup since the beginning of my spiritual journey in 2015. I appreciate Gordon for the years and years of education and mind exploding ideas!

    Not anymore
Did you seriously just say that your idea of utopia is for all Hollywood writers to end up homeless on the streets of LA because you don’t like the latest Star Wars movies?! Dude. Yeah, those movies are crap but these are actual people you are talking about who I am guessing are just trying to make a living in our f-d up system. Seems like a pretty harsh response because they messed up your childhood nostalgia….

    Still on the fence…
I’ve listened to a few episodes. Idk…I was hoping this podcast would be more informative, not just people shooting the breeze and occasionally touching on the topic of each episode. I’m going to poke around the older episodes to see if I find what I’m looking for, but so far I’m not all that impressed.

Intelligent with a Sense of Humor
Gordon is an engaging host, brilliant interviewer, and has a wonderful sense of humor. I have, and continue to, learn so much from him and his guests.

    Love the interview
White finds interesting guest and can pull out the best in them when let’s them talk. It does often feel like he has to be the smartest person in the room but it is his show.

    Direction please on the Mumblers
I love The subject matter and title of this podcast as I am a Reiki practitioner myself and love all things about healing, paranormal etc. I just had to turn off the episode with Lance Baker because I have a speaker which is an excellent speaker laying right next to my head and Mr. Baker is mumbling so much into the microphone and dropping his voice, that I couldn’t understand what he saying. I know about the origins of Reiki and still I could not understand him so I had to turn it off. Please people, when you’re speaking into a mic and you’re on a podcast keep the energy level of your voice up and keep diction crisp. You are not having a conversation, you’re on a podcast. Now onto a few other episodes and I hope the guests are better.

    New Listener Critique
I am a relatively new listener and I love the idea of the show - the esoteric, magical topics and discussion. I just wrapped up the January 13, 2016 Christopher Knowles episode. He rambled and I feel this episode was a complete loss of my time. No substance, he seemed to lack focus, and it felt like he was completely scattered. I think Gordon stepped in to essentially aid the audience.

One the great esoteric philosophy podcasts
My grandparents lived near an occult shop called the Brass Unicorn. As a teen I used to sneak off to visit the shop. The smell of incense, the bizarre ritual devices, herbs and grimoires took me to another world. The fellow running the store was a scary looking old hippie with long scraggily beard and hair (a bit like Alan Moore) but he was a nice enough shopkeep. Thirty years on it's interesting how much occult philosophy has become mainstream. Rune Soup delves into a lot of these esoteric concepts to help make sense of them. Yes, he can get political at times but who doesn't these days. Some topics are unavoidable. Everything is fair game in philosophy and metaphysics.

    Egoism
When offered some great insight, Gordon never misses the chance to remind us that he knows all about that insight and should, by the way, remind us of his general cleverness and wittiness. Hope he gets over that. Otherwise good show.

I don’t know where I would be in my practice without this program. Thank you for being so openminded to the various ways to practice magic.

I used to enjoy this, but it seems like he has started using a familiar playbook
The playbook used by a famous “news” TV host as outlined by Jennifer Marciela, ie: “ And that is how TC wields conspiracy theory against his audience members. He hijacks their ability to think critically with fear appeals, then uses the language of conspiracy to tell them that they should be scared and they can trust no one but him to tell them the truth.” I was saddened by this recent episode in particular although Austin *actually* did try to keep things a bit less dark.

    Best occulty podcast.
Gordon mixes it up. Doesn’t mess with the woo or any of the wack face palmy type personalities. Good stuff.

    Head scratching commencing
I usually love Gordon’s work. Today I am dismayed. What should have been a great piece of discussion turned into white foreign mansplaining on how falsely virtuous BLM can be, and how no one who cares about activism should have voted for Joe Biden. It occurs to me, with respect, that neither commentator had to live IN AMERICA over the last four years. One of them had never lived here at all. Therefore, what may seem to you as a trifle of wispy white optimism and hypocrisy is actually you, sir, armchair quartbacking from extremely cheap seats on your farm in Tasmania. With respect - save your breath. People are allowed to evolve. That includes politicians. And, I didn’t think that Joe was a perfect candidate by far, but you have not ever had to make a decision for survival with your vote, I reckon. Joe is a far cry from four years of electoral and political terror. You did not have to experience that. Ever. So please save your breath. That was just dumb. And last time I checked, you are also white. So your speculation of virtue misuse is contrived. You don’t look like some ennobled scholar peering down on the other stupid white people - you look like a clueless white guy with a podcast - not an expert or judge of others. This discussion became vapid quickly. Lived experience is a thing. You have not lived the American experience for the last four years. Your words mean nothing. You didn’t have to vote here. And you like to hear yourself talk on this thing. Well, good for you I guess ....

Host is an anti-vaxxer and embraces reckless theories
The host propagates the idea that masks don’t work in curbing airborn viral infections and he is an anti-vaxxer. That reflects poorly enough on his intellect, critical thinking skills, intent and energy for me to unsubscribe, stop listening, and move on to better and more responsible podcasts.

    Simply magik 🤢
Quickly becoming my favorite podcast and somehow someway the entire back catalogue just became available so back to the beginning. Thanks Gordon!

    Dedicated listener
I'm a fan and dedicated Rune Soup listener. Gordon is well spoken and tends to have thoughtful guests. That said, he's got a truly terrible habit of referring to others as "dumb" and sharing knowing laughter at the unbearable stupidity of other people. If you can get past the arrogance it's really quite good.

    Not for Everyone
Gordon’s expertise is plain to see and so is his ability to communicate it well. Although dry and sometimes boring compared to higher profile podcasts, what Rune Soup offers is unique. A look into a side of knowledge and life so often overlooked in this modern life by a serious and level headed individual. While magic(k) features prominently in many episodes, these are not exhaustive histories or how to guides of the schools or if you prefer systems being discussed, rather they are looks into practitioners and their personal history with the system. Like most long running podcasts one has sort through a back catalog of episodes to find ones which are worthy of a listen. The podcast is not overtly political and its critiques of society lineup with a wide ideological prospective so ignore the one star reviews that are bemoaning a sudden shift to having the the wrong ideas. While some occult knowledge is helpful in getting the full breadth of what is being presented even a novice can take away valuable information. The episodes can drag on and guests audio quality varies but if you find the right episode you are in for a good listen.

    Used to be good
Gordon White has completely lost the plot. His conspiracist output used to be pretty easy to ignore, but in 2020 he went full bore Covid-denialist and Great Reset fear-monger. While people on Twitter seem to be throwing out a lot of baseless accusations against him, he should be accountable for the things he actually has said. Anyone else remember when RS used to be about magic?

    The best of the best
Gordon brings intellectual and spiritual rigor that is eons ahead of the contemporary magical/metaphysical fluff we are used to. Rune Soup never fails to feed the mind and spirit!

    Lucid, warm, Magic!
Gordon is so smart and eloquently articulated, with very interesting guests. So many great metaphysical anecdotes to enjoy! I love his voice, it’s like a sweet warm wizard hug.

    Engaging content, heavy breathing
New subscriber. Engaging content and stays focused, ty! One criticism though, not sure if this is a factor on all the episodes but on the H2 2020 Astrology episode I found the constant, sharp breathing noises incredibly distracting. It sounds like you are recording from Everest and are both having difficultly breathing well. It was all I could hear after awhile...

A Gold Mine of Information and References
I listen to a lot of podcasts, but this is the only one that regularly drives me to grab a pen and start taking notes! I may not always understand the subject matter and sometimes I lose the thread, but I am often inspired by Rune Soup to explore new-to-me (often age-old) texts, concepts, and authors/artists. Keep going!

    Anti-vaxxer warning
Love the show usually but was disappointed to hear anti-vaccination and anti-mask wearing conspiracy theories espoused on a recent episode
  • LazyEgglet
    Wow :(
This has been one of my favorite esoteric podcasts for quite some time, and I have read and enjoyed Gordons books. I even recommended it to a lot of people I know, which made me feel quite sad and foolish to hear the last episode with Joseph Farrell promoting anti-vaccine and medical conspiracy theories as related to coronavirus for the entire opening to the podcast episode, which were shockingly reminiscent of the hard right american propaganda narratives in circulation right now. I understand guests have their own views, but that is not acceptable to platform this kind of thing on what I thought was a pretty progressive magical space at Rune Soup, but I suppose I could be wrong. This year has been an unrelenting horror that has a lot of people questioning their reality, which can be a good thing until they allow the wrong people to fill in the blanks. Hope this one doesn’t fully swing into conspiracy and destroy itself as so many new thought and occult spaces are right now, but you have already lost a fan, hope it makes a difference that I bothered to say please rethink this kind of content, and that this is spoken with love.

    Conspiracy Theories
Unfortunately this show has jumped the shark for me, spouting right wing conspiracy theories and seemingly defending Trump's idea to shine a bright light (the sun??) inside the body to rid it of COVID-19. Two white guys pontificating on the response to the virus from a place physically far removed from it, and not reflective of my first hand experience living through the wave. But my disappointment is built on a shaky foundation already - Gordon is a smart and knowledgable guy, but he's so bent on proving that in every episode that he talks over/more than his guests sometimes. Maybe I'll try again down the road, because I have enjoyed some of the past interviews and discussions, but I'm not looking for right wing conspiracies in my esoteric podcasts, thanks.

    Noise
The latest ep is seriously hard to listen to due to the guest’s sniffing and deep breathing. Please take noise sensitivity into consideration!

    Heavy inhales are distracting
Having been a listener for a while, I find myself so distracted by Gordon’s deep inhales for breath. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. I hope it improves because I do enjoy the topics of discussion.

The world is only getting weirder, and here there be monsters.

    I was such a fan...
Really thought I’d found a good teacher, but your various bad takes about Coronavirus and epidemics have been a huge disappointment. You opine with maximum confidence, and it is very convincing...until I realize how much of what you say is based on conspiracy and rumor. I’m so bummed.

Rune Soup is beef stew for the mystic soul
No dead air or awkward pauses, no ominous voice-overs, Gordon does a great job of exploring mystical head spaces with others in the fields of academia and esoterica while keeping a steady eye on the importance of post production editing. Anyone can do a podcast like this, but no others that I have heard bring enough technical and intellectual skill to the endeavor. A “must listen” for anyone interested in occult philosophy and cultural exploration.

    Occultism for intellectuals.
I absolutely adore this podcast. Gordon presents his pieces with such deep appreciation and inquisitiveness, it’s infectious. I don’t always agree with his political ideas, but I enjoy listening to them anyway because he presents them with conviction and intelligence. Thoroughly enjoyable show, always in my top 3, if not my favourite. Thanks for being wonderful, Gordon! <3

    My Favorite Podcast Period.
Thoughtful, expansive, intelligent, balanced and inspiring! I’ve been listening for 2 years now and I love Gordon for being professional and truly weird at the same time. I appreciate the true eccentrics that can lead philosophical discussions- we need this type of dialogue more than ever! I get excited like a schoolgirl at recess when a new episode comes out, I often listen to an episode multiple times and many of the interviews have directly inspired me to make changes in my life, start new magickal experiments and think about my relationship to the entire interrelated world with fresh eyes. I can’t thank Gordon enough!
