    They are the Boba!
Reera and Marvin are the Boba! They give me all the same feels as a delightful Bubble Tea and they are cultivating more delectable and diverse reading experiences.

    Boba?
I was looking through Apple podcast and saw this and I was so excited because I love books and boba 🧋🧋🧋and then found found out there was no boba involved, i listened a bit and though5 it was a decent podcast but I am still very disappointed that there is no boba involved in this podcast because I really like boba and I think it’s good, I just don’t want other people who love boba to get scammed out of a boba podcast. Thank you for your consideration, A disappointed listener, The Boba Queen

    Lovely dive into AAPI books!
A very good source for upcoming books by AAPI authors highlighting our stories. Invaluable for helping to navigate and find the good stuff out there. We are blessed to have a breadth of AAPI authors now. Keep up the good work Reera and Marvin!!

    Different perspectives
As an Asian American, I love listening to Marvin’s and Reera’s perspectives. I would listen to a book discussion from another podcast about a book. Then listen to Books & Boba podcast talk about the same book in a completely different view. Very refreshing!

    My comfort podcast
This is the best podcast ever. I love it. I’m always checking when they drop something new.

    Like the concept
I like the concept of the show and the publishing news mixed with author chats and book club. However, I find Reera’s tone a little condescending at times and judgmental. Love Marvin though, seems like a person I would like to hang out with.

    Great Banter and Author Interviews
I absolutely love the dynamic of the hosts. The banter is really great and gives the podcast a casual tone. Also, the author interviews are fabulous, and really lend perspective to both new and established authors. All in all, my TBR is longer due to the fabulous recommendations and thorough book club conversations.

    Dark
Very dark book choices I want to listen. Not sure if dark books are needed for some people and I’m not Asian but the podcast still seemed interesting and I want to listen to a few maybe I’ll change review but wow real dark

    Great discussions
I love the discussions they have about the books. The discussions are entertaining and enlightening. I plan to work through their whole back catalog.

    Room for improvement
It’s a great concept and they choose wonderful books for their book club. However I really struggled listening to the two hosts. the number of “likes” and “ums” disrupting the conversation was too distracting. One of the hosts is significantly worse than the other in this regard, and it’s something that I don’t mind in conversation but a podcast host needs to be more thoughtful about that. I also found that the book discussions were not as in depth as I would like, because the hosts get too caught up talking about themselves. It’s disappointing because plenty of their book choices merited a more thorough discussion about the characters, plot, etc.

    Funny Insightful with Great Recommendations
Books and Boba is always such a treat. They read books by Asian and Asian American authors from tons of different backgrounds, and they also share mid month news about book deals and publication alerts. (Since I don’t have access to the deals marketplace list serv, this is so handy for staying on top of the buzz.) Plus their content (both podcast and Instagram) for AAPI Heritage Month is always amazing. My only wish is that they’d release more episodes!

    Fabulous conversations!
I found out about this podcast a month or two ago and am so glad I did. They have reviewed some of my recent favorites and have inspired me to read new titles as well. I also appreciate hearing the publication news. The conversations are lovely, often informative, and always fun. I highly recommend this bookish podcast with an Asian American focus. Who can resist a book club? Not me.

    Great conversations + recommendations
I started listening to this podcast sometime in late 2019 and am almost up-to-date (having started chronologically)! As a fellow literary enthusiast with a background in academia, I wonder if it’s worth considering bringing in graduate students or professors in for discussions on how - and if - these books are taught in classes. I know much of the content is focused on book news/media + reflections on the material, but other institutional examinations might be worthy topics of exploration.

    Discussion is dry as hell
but I give the utmost respect to this podcast bc there really is no other pod like this where the focus are Asian Books. When choosing the book club pick, they try to have a diverse spread of authors from different parts of Asia but to my memory, there haven’t been as many South Asian & Pacific Islander stories/authors as compared to East Asian ones. Hosts stay informed and give great news updates on new & upcoming books and other Asian/American book industry news (whereas the book club picks skew towards East Asian stories, the News Update/Non-Book Club discussions include a lot of Asian diversity). They interview many Asian authors even if they don’t discuss their books for the book club so you get exposure to a lot different Asian books. Be warned the discussion can get really dry and matter of fact (though occasionally they do have bursts enthusiasm) and overall don’t expect it to be isn’t an energetic or comedic podcast. But they do what they do very well!

    Relevant, Entertaining, and real!
Absolutely love this podcast! This year I’ve wanted to read more books written by Asian authors & Books and Boba does not disappoint. My TBRs are ridiculous and I’m loving the book month picks! Love how in-depth the conversations are.
