Although Southern California based, David’s comprehensive knowledge of the worldwide surf industry informs the listener a (mostly) unbiased view of the current surf landscape. And when they get it wrong they own up to it. Now that I’m taking a break from social media, I appreciate this podcast even more.

This is my absolute favorite podcast. I used to hate listen to David and loved Scott but man that guy’s grown. Scott is the every surfer - petty, selfish, quick to judge and exactly like myself and all my friends. I think what makes Scott top 5 greatest living surfers is his sense of humor which is an overlooked quality when it comes to surf prowess my friend.

Time to hang it up. 148 was practically unlistenable. Saying Carissa Moore should quit professional surfing to discover her true calling as a mother is the most tone def proclamation I’ve heard since Bernie Sanders claimed a woman shouldn’t be president. Horrible show, hopefully signaling the end of a horrible, insignificant career. You guys are garbage.

Coincidenctly I listened to this on my way back from Marthas Vineyard where my folks live. My son and I had just finished a nice run of small summer surf there and were actually talking about if it felt more sharky here or in Southern California. No conclusion was made. I will say this though: the guy that was killed on the cape last year was on a boogie board when he was attacked. Just sayin’

About the Jacksonville surfer that got bit. Knowing how the media “ reports” things. I’m guessing they are ones calling him a “ pro surfer” Either way you guys are a prime example of “ Surfers are the worst”. You managed to assume he was a “ kook” and made fun of a guy that got bit. When just a few minutes before claiming to be too scared to go in the water. Check yourselves !!!!

The perfectly blended mix of surf, and other stuff..the podcast comes off like it’s just a post session late breakfast conversation.... And a tip David, just rub a bit of wax on the bases/sides of your Future fins, and on the threads of the screws..they’ll be a lot easier to remove... the problem is salt build up.... 😉

I really enjoy the interviews on this show and how they reflect on surf culture and history. Recently listened to the quiet flight podcast and really enjoyed it being a cocoa beach resident. Not much into wsl but they have good coverage. I highly recommend this on those flat lazy days

You guys went from saying only 143 people died since 1962 or something, then went on about how bad this is for wave pools and did not remind us that this is super rare and could of happened anywhere. It was a random occurrence that this occurred at a wave park. It could have happened in any other similar water park or any natural body of water.

These two guys are fun together, and definitely keep me always wanting more! The only thing I cannot get my arms around is the no hair washing??? Just thinking about it makes me scratch my head...

I consider myself a Swellin (fan of ain’t it swell) but I must say even though I don’t follow the WSL I do enjoy listening to your podcast I think that’s because it’s almost as if I’m in the room with you guys and you’re very honest in the thinks you say. I’m on episode 25.

Scott, ive listened since radio days and u are the original and the best in the US with genuine and honest discussions of our pastime and sport. But u are wrong to give Sofi G a pass, the Margies debacle is strike 3 (biggest wussy move EVER) she needs to go! A shark attack already happened during an event and it didnt do anything but promote the sport!!!! She killed fiji, she killed pipe, those hurt but now she is making a mockery of our sport. Its embarrassing. We all surf with sharks, all the time, you in N county (the guy got chomped at ttops), san o is shark central by david in the OC. I surf with whitey here in norcal every day. The folks of west oz go out even when the beaches are closed. She should step down now. Enough about the WSL, love your show and how u break it all down and the honesty. Spit is the best, most entertaining surf podcast that exists. Never boring, always fun to listen to; all whilst being informative as well. I would often times rather re-listen to Spit than I would listen to one of the other podcasts out there.

It seems like everyone is starting a surf podcast these days. Why is this one the best? Scott and David (aka Bassy and the Chophop) are more thoughtful, more insightful, and more articulate than other surf commentators. And that makes their show more entertaining.
