Drama #222

BREAKERS is Shepherd Grey’s account of what life looks like after organized civilization crumbles as he and his faithful canine companion, Rommel, venture out from their home in Virginia to try and count themselves among the survivors. It has been several years since the outbreak began. The virus is just a sick and twisted part of life now. You test as much as you can, but there is no “preventing” it, only staying alive until you catch it. “Red you’re dead” is a phrase all too commonly heard throughout the world. You have your Gunslingers, your criers, your survivors, and your breakers... If you don’t fit into those categories, your are among the dead.

    Should’ve renamed it
It was a great story but it really didn’t touch base with the breakers since end of the 1st season. Should’ve named it the group that was attacking them. Overall good story.

    Couldn't stop listening
It's difficult to find really good fiction podcasts. I have started and stopped many but stumbled across this one and was hooked! Amazing storyteller. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a "We'reAlive" but the narrator is mesmerizing and the storyline kept me wanting more.

    I’m hooked
This guy is one heck of a story teller

    Just…. Wow.
This was a wide ride and I wish it didn’t have to stop. I listen to a lot of podcasts, rarely do I end up this emotionally invested. The narrator’s voice is both soothing and captivating. The writing is realistic and immersive. This is a truly fantastic story and I appreciate the time and effort put into its conception and production.

    Love Breakers Pod
I binged this over the last couple of weeks. Every episode was fantastic. I did a lot of crying over the last few of them. Beautiful story of life, death and what truly living means. Thanks Sam and Sam!

    A Covid 19 ripoff
Not really original, KV 18 sounds a lot like Covid 19. Starts in a lab in Europe, vs started in China. Probably some political obstacles as well for our character. I’m bummed why can’t you make something original, instead of making a spin off of current events. Flying pig syndrome or a crazy twist on mad cow. You could have done something so insane

    Eye rolling the entire time
This is an apocalypse and these characters know what people are capable of. Yet they continuously make stupid choices, hesitate when they should know better etc. I couldn’t even finish it because the stupidity of some of these characters was so annoying.

    Excellent Audio Drama
Absolutely loved this podcast from start to finish. After discovering Breakers I binged all four seasons in about three days. The story telling can be a bit monotone at times, but that’s partially due to the presentation style. You are pushed to experience every emotion on the spectrum as you slowly make your way through an apocalyptic timeline.

    Great podcast
I was hooked from the start. Didn't want it to end.

    Smug Protagonist, Oof Commentary
Really hard to like protagonist if you’re not a cis dweeby white dude. Guy says he’s proficient at everything but never found a specific skill cuz “no one pays you for knowing good music & being awesome” literally😂 dude thinks extremely high of himself, extremely basic survivor story, nothing crazy or innovative. Doesn’t seem to have sympathy for absolutely anyone in this story’s pandemic which speaks horribly to a world currently effected by one. Really hard to listen, not an indie audiodrama I’d support

    Better than We're Alive
Zombies are great, don't get me wrong. This was a pleasant surprise!

    Very enjoable
Loved it! I binge listened to this one! As much as i like to complain what the eps are too short, it makes it easy to complete an episode on a quick errand. There were a few editing issues in the early season, nit nothing that would make me give it less than five stars.

    COVID 19??? I hope not!
Great story! Can’t wait to see how it ends. Thank your artist because the drawing was what prompted me to give it a try. Then finding out it takes place in the VA,DC,MD area. What a better thing to listen to during a pandemic in Maryland.

Hooked, but be aware: some irritating writing.
I loved this podcast and got hooked on it. But...... some of the writing could be better executed. Don’t want to give any spoilers, but really? They didn’t see that coming???? Oh, and why kill one guy, but not the next??! Because it works for the story that’s why. I loved Shep and everyone else and don’t regret getting hooked on this but I’m interested in seeing the writers skills grow.

Pulled right into the apocalypse with Sam...
Immediately immersive, smart and well-spoken, this show pulls me right into Sam's world with enough detail to see the world around me and feel what's going on. I'm on Episode 7 and utterly delighted that I have so many shows to enjoy ahead of me! WAY TO GO, Sam Squared! EDIT: I have now finished the show and was forced to binge-listen, as this podcast is just too much fun! Great job guys, I loved it!

    Fascinating
This is a really great story about a guy who is often an absolute idiot with a really great dog trying to stay alive in very bad circumstances.

    Hooked!
I’m very picky with what I listen to and what I watch. You can not go wrong listening to this podcast, it has everything you want. The voice and the way the story is told is amazing. You will get hooked.

    Gritty but Great
This is the type of story that I love to listen to but dread at the same time. The storyline isn’t all rainbows and happy endings... it’s tough to listen to but addictive. Great writing! I’m looking forward to the finale.

    I love a good story.
Just finished episode one, it was a hit! Great story line leaving lots of suspense. I highly recommend it so far!

One of the absolute best pod series I’ve ever listened to. A mixture of fear and human kindness. 10 out of 10.

    A hidden gem......
Don’t know how this podcast is now more widely known. It is truly well done. A great apocalypse story....and throw in.....a man and his dog.

    Sooo Good!
Breakers is a great story! I am spellbound & have fallen in love the characters! I am on season 2 & trying hard not to binge. Please keep up the amazing job you do! Also I’m still green!!!

    Great time killer for drives
Granted, I find myself talking to the radio saying “dude! Grab the gun.” He does a great job story telling.

    Love this show!
I look forward to every episode. Great characters and storyline.

    Latest addiction
If you are looking for something post apocalyptic after finishing We’re Alive! then give this podcast a shot! It is different since it’s first POV but that’s what makes it interesting. Listen to Shepard’s account, I find him to be a very sympathetic character. Remember, “Red you’re dead”.

    FINALLY A QUALITY PODCAST
I've been caught up in fiction podcasts to get me through my workday and I've given a fair amount of chances to more well known podcasts. Apparently the ONLY fictional podcast genre allowed is horror...like c'mon people lets get more creative. I don't remember how, but I stumbled across Breakers and I was immediately transported into the tumultuous, heartbreaking mind and life of Shepherd Grey...and binged listened every available episode in 3 days. To me it feels like brilliant combo of I Am Legend and Divergent but jumbles us in a twist where the enemy is not the infected but those who use their circumstances to herald anarchy. LOVE IT! Thank you Sam and Sammy!

    Dopest Podcast EVER
This is by far one of the best podcast out. Really hope the two creators come to an understanding to keep this story going. It’d be a shame to lose such an amazing story. C’mon fellas, don’t stop now. 💪🏼💯👏🏼

Breakers is an amazing story that has a wide range of emotion, and is masterfully performed by one person. Great story, great acting.

    Dystopian Sci-fi awesomeness!
If you love Octavia Butler’s Earth Seed or the movie Children of Men, or even the somewhat problematic A Boy and His Dog- you’ll dig this podcast. Enthralling storyline. Well built characters. I can’t say enough good things about this pod.

Sit down, dig in and expect a great story!
Breakers is one of the best podcasts around. It has a heck of a storyline that will keep you coming back week after week to hear the new episodes. Sam and Sammy have a dynamic flow about their work on this podcast; from the writing to the voice. This isn’t your typical apocalypse story. This has depth, love, intrigue and surprises around every corner. One moment you are on edge with suspense and the next your heart strings might be pulled. Very well don and it will draw you in from episode one! Subscribe...you will be glad you did.

    Edge of my seat
I loveeee this podcast. I finished the 3 parts in less than a week. I couldn’t stop listening. I was always at edge of my seat. I even cried a couple of times. Now I’m sad because I have to wait for more. Please hurry up! 😉 Thank you!!!

Hand's down one of the best!
This is one of the best audio dramas out there! The storytelling and presentation really make you feel like you are in this post apocalyptic world. Highly recommend!

    Enthralling
Breakers is a great story, told very well by a man with a great voice for radio. This podcast should be at the top of your must-listen list. I'm much more a fan of comedy podcasts in general, but the well-written story is so engagingly told by Sam Kulper that I was instantly hooked. I'm now in the middle of Phase II, and I can't stop listening! - Sean (In Poor Taste podcast)

    QUALITY Narrative Fiction
Absolutely love this podcast. You can tell the creators pour their heart and soul into it. It grips your from the first episode and doesn't let go. My only complaint is that there aren't more episodes!

    Great show
What a wild ride this has been. Emotional rollercoaster of action packed podcasting excitement.

    Good story, voices are meh
The voices seem lack luster and make it difficult to not get annoyed. The story itself is cool though. Good way to kill time at work.

    Great podcast. Very fun.

    This is a must listen!
I’m so glad I heard about this show! I only have a couple of pods that I MUST listen to as soon as a new episode drops, and this is on that list now! Great story telling, easy to listen to, and I can’t wait for each episode to come out. Thanks for producing a great show! ~ Erin Whitehead, Host of the Braless Podcast

    Love this
I'm only on phase 1 and I'm trying to take it slow because I don't want to catch up. Love the writing and the narration. I'm a big fan of apocolypse movies and TV shows and it's so cool to have a podcast about that, without zombies!!
  • Kwkr
    So addicting!
Im not a huge dystopian fan, most are zombie based and pretty much the same, but i love good story telling. Breakers is both at their best. Sam's voice is the first draw, no dramatics, just nice smooth, inviting. The actual story is believable, you can picture yourself experiencing the trials. Thanks for such an entertaining escape from this world. One complaint, maybe picky but it would really be nice to have the episodes description instead of same loooong thank yous over and over. Sometimes forget if ive heard all of an epi or would like to back and review one. Please include what each epi is about!
  • Matthew Galvan
Good start, but lost its luster.
The story started great, but it’s turned into a lot of long winded monologues of reminiscing. It’s always been a bit all over the place, but it’s just irritating droning now.
  • Veriance
    Engaging
This audio drama takes you on a journey through an apocalyptic world where there are gunslingers, survivors and breakers. Also, DOGS! Realistic and likeable main character in Shepard Grey and an interesting, believeable cast of supporting characters. Well written, well told, engaging.
  • Cats2books
    Enthralling
This podcast has kept me riveted from the beginning. I thought I’d give it a try, not really being one that’s into serialized fiction. But once I started listening, I couldn’t stop. Now that I’m all caught up, I have to anxiously await the release of new episodes. Great story telling!
  • Joolie456
Breakers is my new fave pod
I love this spin on post apocalyptic scenarios. It's compelling, funny, and scary without being overly morbid (um... just morbid enough?). Plus, it features a great dog!!
