    Good for Sci-fi people perhaps
The quality of the voice acting and sound design is great. Objectively, I think the writing is too. Sadly I couldn’t really get into the story, but I’m not a huge sci-fi/alternate universe lover so I’m not totally surprised by this. I made it into the last season, but gave up before finishing. If anyone out there is like me and more drawn into horror/creepy podcasts over sci-fi, definitely look into SPINES which is by the same person that did Mirrors. I LOVED that one.

A powerful sci-fi story for women
I’ve gone down the sci-fi audio drama rabbit hole this summer - listened to 20+ podcasts and this is in my top 5. Gripping and moving. Thank you to the creators!

    Interesting Feminist Sci-Fi
Starts off with a horror-mystery vibe, but settles into sci-fi mystery by the end of the first season. The story has a good balance between revealing information and leaving enough clues and questions to keep the listener invested. The plot gets complex at points but is easy to follow. Handles themes of personal agency while grappling with fear of fate and inevitability. Intergenerational connections of solidarity and trauma [between primarily cis women] and concern for future generations play significant roles in the narrative. Female solidarity is highlighted not only in the intergenerational aspect, but in the friendship(s) Helen forms, Sierra's wife's unflinching support, and Z's relationship with her AI. The character development is lovely and the actors convey emotion and embody their characters' strengths and fears well. Despite having only three main actors with a couple supporting roles, the cast feels larger; I especially loved how Helen did voices for her friends. The exploration of the 'ghosts' and their nature and interaction with the world is interesting. I was worried for several episodes that the story was veering towards bio-essentialism despite its critiques of eugenics because much of the story hinges on mostly cis women having a certain ability, but there are some brief mentions of trans women and nonbinary people having the ability and its cause not being as straightforward as at first glance. Still, I would have liked to see more exploration of that nuance in such a feminist-leaning story.

    Absolutely rivetting
I am almost left speechless by this spectacular story. Everything about this podcast hooked me; the brilliant story telling, the immersive atmosphere, the compelling characters brought to life so convincingly, the weave of their narratives, and the emotional connection they made. The author and actors earned every bit of it, pulling together a story that is moving, and exciting, compelling, and utterly impossible to put down. If I could give this more stars, I would—just fabulous from beginning to end. I hope that I can find more by this author because this podcast has made me an instant fan. Stop what you’re doing and listen—you will be so glad that you did!

    Outstanding

    Outstanding story!
Every once in a while you read or hear or watch a story that you know is going to stick with you forever. This is one of those for me. I feel like I know the characters. When I came across it, I was a little worried that the storyline would outpace the number of episodes and there would be a lot of filler, but the pacing was perfect. I understand that this story is over, but I want to go back and live in that world for just a little longer. This is one of the best stories I’ve heard in a long time. Outstanding!

    Just WoW.
Thoughtful, creative, fascinating, well-acted, well-executed, and spell-binding. Started it one day and finished the day after. Sorry it's over. This is the cream that should rise to the top of the apple lists. I'm waiting for another pod from this creator. And I'm buying her book. Brava!

    Beautiful, wonderful, unexpected
This is by far my favorite fiction podcast. It’s a well written, well acted story of- well, I can’t really say without giving things away. Listen, you’ll be glad you did.

    Give it a listen
This was such an intriguing and beautiful story! I’m so glad I stuck with it to the end. Well done.

    Love
Update: Finished the series. Left in awe at the acting and how the story played our. This is a great story that slowly unpeels later by layer. The reveal of the women’s connection is huge. After listening to Matilda, I find myself walking around saying “Dear Richard” in a dramatic voice!

    Absolutely amazing
One of the BEST podcasts I have ever listened to. I stumbled upon this one kind of by accident and it blew me away!!! From the amazing characters to the entire plot I was left wanting more after every episode. The characters have such depth that you feel like you know them personally and empathize with them. Absolutely cant wait for season 3 because 1 & 2 were out of this world!! UPDATE: I just finished the last episode and I am blown away. I knew the ending would be fulfilling but they knocked it out of the park. Im not usually one to relisten to podcasts but this and spines ive already went back to a few times.

Holy crap. So much more than I expected.
This story went exactly where I thought it would go, and also not at all where I thought it would go. There’s a season one scene where Helen’s fear is so visceral I was terrified standing in broad daylight. And then I cried through most of Episode 23, just from how well it was acted and edited. Just amazing all around.

    Once in a lifetime story
I have listened to so many fictional podcasts, but Mirrors by far is my favorite. The complex characters, well-paced plot, and beautiful prose make this a podcast I will return to over and over again. The plot is so intricate and moving that I find myself emotionally processing it days after I listen to an episode. Bravo!
  • AngBrown.
    Actually the best podcast
The characters’ innate curiosity and bravery which drives the plot is my favorite part. It makes them so relatable and compelling! The way that their communication with the explorers evolves also makes the explorers into compelling characters and brought up unexpected compassion for them. The world that the narrative describes is so real and rich! This is the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Everything about it is perfect. I wish I had discovered it sooner so that I could have supported the creators on Paterson for longer and thank them for this amazing journey they’ve created.
  • session sf
    phenomenal
Okay, that’s a bit of a pun on the content of the podcast, but the accolade is accurate! This story of a haunting/hauntings is extremely well written and well told, with a fascinating unique structure that pulls you in. The performances of the three fascinating female protagonists are compelling and natural. The story unfolds deliberately and suspensefully. This podcast is a real find!
  • Whoa nickname??
    Very well paced
An intricate story with an excellent pace that keeps your attention. Can’t wait for season three!

Zoom Doom Knows How to Make a Podcast
I’ve listened to Mirrors and Spines and loved both. Great writing, acting, and production. 10/10 podcasts!

    Great and weird
Excellent writing, acting, and production; it’s a must listen
  • GracoTrunner
    YOU MUST LISTEN
I stumbled on this by accident. I’m only on season 1. So far it’s PHENOMENAL!!!!! I sort of figured out early on who the hauntings were (I’ve watched so many ghosts and paranormal movies—if you’ve watched Hill House then you’ll figure it out too by episode 3 —think of the bent neck lady) however the development of the story arcs was not at all what I expected. Soooo good!! Soooooo fricking good. Great voice acting. Great writing. Great mixing. I mean everything is phenomenal. The discovery with Karin when she’s with Sierra was perfect.
  • bramblehoof
    Really wonderful!
Expert storytelling and top-notch voice acting! So very well done. More, please.

Cant wait to see whats next from ZoomDoom!
Mirrors and Spines are such amazing series. Mirrors freaks you out and makes you really think about what the phenomenons are, Spines gives you a but of comedy but maintains the atmosphere of the world in Spines. I love how simple the audio is, no background music, just the host speaking who both doesnt go into so much detail that its like theyre reading a novel but actually sounds like these are real logs. Such amazing work. I cant wait to hear more series from them. Also i have to say that i reaaally appreciate that they dont shove adverts in your face or flood their feed advertising themselves, its just the story and maybe at the end, a little promotion for a novel based on that story Also, if youre looking for one to fall asleep to, this is amazing. Its interesting, spooky but shouldnt give anyone any nightmares, such simple audio that stays at a predictable level, theres no yelling or screaming etc. just really interesting diary entries.
