JC2626262626Hunting Info is Great, Gear Info is BadThe knowledge on everything bear related is great. Clay and all the guest know what they are talking about. They explain regulations and seasons and activities of bears in a easy to digest way. The only real issue I’ve had is the gear discussions and advice given regarding gear. Examples being when Clay said his Best of the West rifle has custom turrets, which implies his turret is built for his specific rifle and bullet, but then proceeds to explain a standard turret capable of dialing MOA/MRAD. Another being when Clay and Colby stated “Glocks don’t have safeties so they don’t carry with one in the chamber”. Glocks have many safeties, they just don’t have an external thumb safety or grip safety (which are only meant to make guns drop safe, not negligent with the trigger safe). Still a good podcast but I would look for someone who reviews specific gear for advice on gear to pick. On the other hand, this is the best place to come to learn about bear hunting.

Meiz-Great information on bear hunting for a car rideThis is my favorite podcast. I live in Western Pennsylvania and just got into bowhunting. Great information on the various methods to hunt bears depending on state regulations (spot&stalk, bait, hounds), what types of habitat to look for bears, bear sign, what bears eat, shot placement, fall hunting, spring hunting, information on Canadian bear hunting. This also got me to subscribe to their magazine which is very well done. Clay Newcomb also converted me in pronouncing a bear’s favorite food, Akern.

LipslewinskiTrained by a hound dogJust listened to this episode. Who among us that is a dog person hasn’t been trained by their dog. It’s a symbiotic relationship between man and beast. This was a classic story and remarkable person. Thanks!

JMackTNFilled with passionI started listening to this podcast as needing more MeatEater type content. Clay sees things differently. Every part of his hunt and hunt preparation is seemingly as important and part of the success of the hunt. It covers way more than just bear hunting but also importance of food, friends, and especially family and family values. Need more people like this representing us hunters.

Greggg44Clay Newcomb is a top notch humanI've been listening and watching to Clay Newcomb wherever I can find his stuff. He is thoughtful, honest, and it seems to me that he works hard to learn as much as he can about the world around him and improve himself and his family and community. I am trying to do the same in my life--so thank you Clay, for all of the helpful and important material.

HucksdaddyAmazing podcast!I don’t have bearhounds anymore, but I will always consider myself a dog man, and a bear hunter, and I want to thank Clay for all the work and effort he has put in over the years to educate people, and defend the sport I love so deeply.

BakerBowsDeeply InfluentialAfter listening to the final episode and reflecting on the impact that the Bear Hunting Magazine Podcast has had on me, I am unashamed to admit that I started tearing up. I am not a bear hunter and probably never will be, but as a husband and father, I am thankful that men like Clay Newcomb exist. Listening to this podcast has inspired me to be a better man. Outstanding podcast with a message that echoes far beyond the world of hunting. I cannot wait for what is coming next!

ChelseyLynn4Favorite Episode: 13I’ve been listening to current and catching up on “old” podcasts since I started listening to these a few months ago and I’ve been intrigued thus far, but today I listened to podcast number 13 and I fell in love. The second half of this podcast that relates to life, the value of family and hounds made me a lifelong listener. I am a young female hound hunter from Wisconsin and this is a podcast I will remember for a long time and I will come back to and relisten to when I need it. Thank you for all of the various information this podcast brings! I enjoy hearing from organizations and people I never knew existed and I love learning new things! Thank you!

Jabow11Agree and disagreeThis is the great thing about this wonderful country is we can agree on some points and disagree on others and we ALL have the right to do so. I applaud is sober life for 72 years and how he loves his hunting and thank you for your fight in the hunting world. Also at the same time I totally disagree on the Chris bracket thing. I do not dislike Chris or have any animosity toward him or ted. Ted was taught by his father about his sober life I was also taught by a great man that I call my dad that has installed all my CORE values in my life. What happened in Indiana was a total travesty and against all the CORE believes that i was brought up respecting and after hearing you discuss the North American model I believe it is against what it was based on as well. I do trophy hunt whitetails as well as run coons with hounds. I am trying to bring my children up the same way as I was. if I harvest a animal I would do all In my power to find that animal and do it justice before shooting another to just kill it because it is bigger. I respect you clay to the highest respect and what you stand for and appreciate what you do but this way of thinking by Ted will close that gate we fight to keep open vs swinging it open and knocking it down. Everything else discussed wether it be baiting, dog running or spot and stalk with all other means allowed within the laws I stand right behind him on but not just killing to give better ratings for your tv show. Thank you and if ever in Indiana and want to go coonhunting my door is always open. Jason bowling.

Droptine26Ted Nugent InterviewThis was one of the best interviews I have heard in a long time! Was on the road to meet my daughter for a weekend camping trip and this made the trip an enjoyable ride. Ted’s version of the Star Spangled Banner brought tears to this old Vets eyes! Thanks for the great show!

Bradgreen27Bear Hunting Magazine podcast sets the standardClay continues to set the standard for relevant, interesting and unique conversations not only about bear hunting but history, conservation, ecology, society and life as modern outdoorsmen and women. He's a great interviewer and conversationalist. My only complaint is that the podcasts are only about an hour long!!! Thanks Clay and keep them coming.

jcherr11Great podcastI stumbled upon this podcast looking for hound related content. I’ve never bear hunted but after listening to the hound content Clay had out there, I was hooked on this podcast. I don’t know what it is, but Clay seems to have this ability to make absolutely anything an interesting topic to listen to. I alway look forward to next episode just as soon as I finish the current one. Keep it up man.

BevinatorSTLIntelligent and Interesting DiscussionsI really enjoy Clay; his questions show he is prepared and thoughtful for his interviews. I like that he gives his interviewees plenty of time to respond. It often sounds like two buddies sitting around having a philosophical discussion about some aspect of hunting but also sharing hunting tips I learn a lot when I have listened. AND I AM NOT A HUNTER.
-
michigan ToddHillbilliesThis is so good! Such knowledge. Hope these can help similar folks to gather in whatever fashion they can. To share even more stories and skills

Travis from OzarkIt’s like talking to good friends.Really like this podcast. It really has the feel of sitting on the porch and visiting with friends.

ColdTatorLove the podcast!Love hearing the podcast, I am from East Texas and have never bear I fed or had really any interest in it, with that being said I listen to the podcast every time I am traveling(often). Especially enjoy the ones with funny stories of past times with dad and grandad. There was one in particular about “borrowing” an old mans coon dog in the night and returning it! Would love to hear more of that! Also would like to hear one concerning the line between conservation and hunter/fisherman. Is one person taking five or six fish/animals consistently any better than a person with limited time going and limiting out the few times they can afford to go!
-
