This is easily one of the Top Podcasts About Acting. I’m always looking forward to another episode and with each guest there is so much knowledge and wisdom to be gained. Ryan is a great host and really leads the interviews in a way that is fun and exciting and his delivery toes the line between structure and spontaneity beautifully. Amazing Podcast!!!!!

I’ve just started listening to An Actor Despairs and, in spite of the rather dark title, the show really provides a lot of interesting information related to the Acting Industry. Honestly, Antony Starr (Homelander from ‘The Boys’ and Lucas Hood from ‘Banshee’) recommends it and that’s all you should need to know! Check it out!! 5/11/21 Update: The episodes just seem to be getting better and better. Ryan really has a knack of getting his guests to open up about their unique experiences. His interviews with Colman Domingo and Julian Kostov were both excellent! *2/17/22 Update* Ryan really puts his heart and soul into these interviews. His interviews highlight the struggles that actors go through to bring us the joy of theater, television and film. I highly recommend this podcast.

This podcast caters to the struggling artist and how to navigate the brutal life with insight from guests that have seen the worst and came out on top. Ryan is the best man to host it!

To the interviewer, You really seriously over powered this conversation. You are far too loud and answer too quickly and at many points just talked over Jena Malone Which is interesting because at the beginning of this episode you told her how much you looked up to her and then you never really seemed to take the time to listen. It seemed like you just went ahead and assumed what she meant and then filled in what you thought she was going to say. Totally bizarre.

His podcast showed up in my feed and I was immediately hooked in with his interview with Tim Robbins. I’ve always been fascinated by Tim and this interview was the one thing to scratch the itch. Don’t sleep on this one it’s a great podcast.

It goes without saying even though I’m gonna say it . Real Talk , Real Insight … You can see the Veil drop with the comfort level with which Ryan Perez handles each and every Interview . A true sign of respect and admiration from the acting community , which clearly in my mind puts Ryan Perez on the way to OG status as his Veil stays dropped and is clearly comfortable in his own skin …which is why not only followers and viewers should continue to support , but the community from which Perez comes from should keep the support strong as well and maybe be banging his door down to Join the show ! Final note ? Someone is missing the boat big time if they don’t recognize the Hustle .. The drive .. The passion and the desire to be back in the game .. A beautiful and intelligent podcast that satisfies and celebrates so many layers of cinema, acting and storytelling. Incredible and exciting guests that you also get to know beyond and deeper than their public persona which is really special. Ryan is a wonderful, sharp, passionate and exciting host. I adore this podcast and there is truly no other like it!

Really, really interesting podcast. You can tell the host is seriously passionate about the art. I’m not technically in “The Industry” myself but I watch tv and movies, so I get to hear the stories of some of my favorite actors.

Ryan’s interview style and general approach is so subtle and remarkably relatable. His conversations with established, HUGE names are just as casually in-depth as those with the young, up and coming hot talent. I have discovered projects I didn’t know I would enjoy specifically through some of his guests and I find myself laughing out loud a lot more than I would have thought would be the case. Great work Ryan!

I’m not an actor, but there’s still plenty of interesting an inspiring information for me each episode. I love it. If you’re outside the entertainment industry, you should listen. If you’re an aspiring actor, you need to listen. I generally hate listening to people talk when I drive. I would rather listen to CCR over any podcast... except this one.

Ryan is an awesome host and his interviews with a wide range of actors is truly interesting, week after week.

By taking opinion of a number of knowledgeable guests on the subject matter, this podcast manages to separate myths and misconceptions about the topic at hand, and explores the theme in an extremely practical manner. The rather short duration of this talk offers you life changing tips which these experts took years to realize!

Whether you work in the industry or not, Ryan’s interviews are effortless and the actors who come on give a really interesting behind the scenes look into the entertainment world and their own unique experiences with it. Not to mention the actors he has are all great and very accomplished. Would highly recommend!

Ryan is one of the most passionate, hard working people in the business. His podcast is equally as inspiring and beautifully done. It’s so wonderful to hear from actors who have had a flourishing career about how they got started and what has made them successful. Ryan does an amazing job at not only providing the listener with an incredibly intriguing show, but with asking the questions we all want answers to. I love An Actor Despairs!!

YES!! I love this podcast so much. It’s inspiring to hear from people that are both currently in the hustle or post success hustle (the hustle never really stops). The host Ryan is warm and friendly, which I think is the reason the guests feel comfortable opening up and being a little more vulnerable than I at least was expecting. The interviews usually start from the beginning of their life, which I appreciate because it allows me to really get to know them. The shows had some big names like Glenn Fleshler (Batman), Fisher Stevens (Succession), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire) etc, but some of the producers or younger artists are almost even more interesting to listen to. I’m not an actor or in the entertainment industry and I have learned a lot listening! The two things everyone seems to have in common... good work ethic and a good attitude. Please keep them coming!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Ryan, I just listed to your Podcast w Tom P from Ozark. I loved it . What a down to earth guy. So honest , genuine and humble human being . Like he says just be yourself and things will fall into place . He was incredible on Ozark. You’re a natural when it comes to interviewing your guests!! You know how to keep the listeners listening and keeping the guest engaged !!! Great podcast . I think a lot of actors will learn from Tom P comments on how to get acting jobs. This is a show that, finally, allows guests to speak about their respective journeys without any salacious tabloid questions. It’s so inspiring! And I love the diversity of all the guests!!!!
