    Exceptional true crime podcast
I found MIA a couple of months ago and have been binging it religiously ever since. It’s obvious how much time, research, and passion Collin and Courtney put into creating this show. They cover fascinating cases (many famous ones, but also many obscure ones that deserve to be more widely known) and what I appreciate the most is how they put so much emphasis on humanizing the victims and survivors of violent crime. I think that some of the theatrical aspects were a bit over the top in the early episodes, but it’s clear that their editing and presentation have grown a lot over the years. Personally — though I know it might not appeal to everyone — I really love when they discuss the paranormal elements to certain cases, and that it’s handled with a lot of sensitivity. I’m not sure where the negative reviews about them only covering Texas cases are coming from, as they have hundreds of episodes spanning the entire country. (Texas also has a lot of high-profile cases that make for great fodder for a true crime podcast.) I also want to say something to the reviewers complaining incessantly about all of the ads in the show: I’m not sure if y’all know this, but ads are how podcasters and other content creators make money. And before you say that a podcast should be a passion project offered for free: do you have a any idea how much work it takes to make a quality podcast? All of the hours and days spent researching, writing, producing, and editing? Especially considering that most podcasters also have day jobs and other responsibilities? It is the height of entitlement to demand that content creators take no monetization for the labor of love that goes into making their product (and a podcast is a product) just so *you* don’t have to sit through ads, WHICH YOU CAN LITERALLY SKIP OVER. (The horror of taking 10 seconds to skip an ad! Oh, how terribly inconvenient!) If ads really bother you that much, you can join the Patreon and pay for the ad-free version. Otherwise, either don’t listen or find a way to deal with it like an adult, and stop devaluing the work of creators by demanding they work for free.

    Murder In America.
I absolutely love this podcast and would recommend it to anyone. It is true crime at its very best. I’m in my 60s and my girls in their 30s. We all look forward to Friday when new episodes are released. Even their husbands have become Murder In America fans. Keep up the fantastic work!

    Murder in Texas…I mean America
Do you ever venture outside of Texas for your stories? Narration is a bit blase. Maybe try some feeling versus just reading me a story you found in a Texas newspaper.

    Don’t miss out!
I’m very picky about my crime podcasts and MIA has passed the test with flying colors! There is no small talk at the beginning just straight to the point. Well thought out and so interesting!!

Good content, so left leaning it could “capsize”
Content is well researched and presented, however, it is very obvious of the political leanings. Yikes! It’s like if MSNBC did a true crime podcast.

    Awesome
Superb the stories the details, we the listeners get to hear the full stories. Every gory detail, even how officials continue to fail at protecting us, the people they took an oath to protect. I am very proud to be part of the MIA family

    All time favorite podcast!
This is the kind of crime podcasts most people look for. Full of details and information about the victims and their families. I enjoy how long they are as well!

    Binge Worthy!
I love this show! I listen to on my way to and from work. They really grab your attention.
  • chillzzzzz
    Informative, yet insensitive
While the contributors and creators definitely do their research and due diligence in delivering all the necessary information to paint a picture through a podcast, I find the atmosphere created is too theatrical, like almost conveying a movie script through a real world event in which people were affected mentally and physically.

Love these two together. Great voices. No annoying banter. In depth analysis and discussion.

As you know, Bob…As you can see, Bethany….
I stop mid-episode frequently due to the obsessive use of “As you know” or “As you can see”.
  • CDDrizzy
    Amazingggg!!!
I don’t know how this isn’t #1 in true crime podcasts. They know these cases inside and out and tell them in perfect detail. I recommend the show to all my true crime friends! Keep up the excellent work guys!!!

Music and sound effects kill the show
I have recently started listening and really enjoy the detail and thoroughness of these stories. I just think the Halloween type music and some of the sound effects are really just too much. The theme song is kind of ridiculous tbh and the cutting in and out of show with that music kills the importance that you’re trying to convey otherwise. Sounds very circus like and is a jolt from the quietness of the show. The sound effects haven’t bothered me too much because they’re not really loud and generally add to the theme of the show. However some are just ridiculous. Like the sound effect used when talking about how Andrea Yates was attempting suicide with a knife. We do not need a sound effect of what it would possibly sound like if you’re cutting your own throat. That was extremely unprofessional and bizarre. Yes you want to tell stories to us but we aren’t here for the over the top attempt at entertainment. It was beyond tacky. I’ll listen occasionally because I do like the story telling (when things are pronounced correctly, like cities, for example) but I don’t see this being in my weekly rotation due to the sounds and music.

    Whisper story telling
Why the whisper talk? Speak normally.
  • ChandlersAGirl
    Great
Pretty new to the pod, found on Tik Tok, and it's really really well done. My pet peeve (weird as it is) is that Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth. Disney World is the most MAGICAL place on earth. I've heard you mis reference it a few times on a couple episodes now.
  • Gfan 85
    Love the show
I got two stories for you guys look up Nathan brooks of bellaire oh he got Halloween canceled one year in Ohio and the murder of Brad McGarry
  • juanc07
Should actually be called Murder in Texas.
I have been listening from the beginning and I love all the stories that have been told. My only thing is that they should really change the name of the podcast to Murder in Texas. Since this is always the state they focus on. No story's from a handful of states, which is what this podcast had in mind when it started. Love it still but would love to have them branch out again.

    Best Podcast and YouTube channel!
I’ve been a long time listener of the podcast, they always provide facts that go with the story and tells them very well. Along with Colin’s YouTube channel The Paranormal Files, amazing! Love from Colorado!

    Great story telling!
I don’t normally write reviews but I started listening to this podcast this past week or so and I really like how they present the story. Well rounded, audio from events etc. Just finishing about Uvalde. I was in tears. I’ve come away learning more about that day. They do a great job!!

A Must-Listen for True Crime Fans!
Murder in America is one of my favorite podcasts! The hosts do an incredible job putting each story together, weaving in just the right amount of detail to keep you hooked. They cover a wide variety of fascinating and well-researched cases, many of which I hadn’t heard of before. Their storytelling style is engaging and respectful, making it the perfect listen for true crime fans. I look forward to every new episode!

    Phenomenal
My co worker Tameka turned me on to your podcast I must say I had hesitation at first because I already listen to a few and I thought it would be similar but NO WAY I am so glad I listened and I am a HUGE FAN you both are amazing and the sound effects are amazing and fitting. The way both of you narrated the stories are so good. I will definitely be starting from the beginning, but can’t wait to pat 2 of the Yates story. Keep up the good work you two.
  • rachel eli
    Such a good detailed podcast
I love the way Colin and Courtney explain everything in this podcast, very thorough.
  • Jacquie from Marin
    Perfection!
Love this podcast. It’s so thorough and well researched with no small talk and their voices are nice and soothing! It’s a favorite for sure!
  • Samyo22
They only cover like 5 states
The podcast is called murder in America but it should really be called murder in Texas and California. They only actually cover murders in a few states, so I would recommend changing the name of the podcast because it doesn’t make sense if you don’t cover murder in other states.
  • Halls516353637373
    The best
This is one of the best true crime podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Always factual and interesting while being respectful of the victims. I also love that a lot of the stories aren’t commonly known.
  • NotDreysonS
    Amazing
I have listened to many true crime podcasts and no one does it like them. I feel connected to the story and this is a podcast where I actually feel emotion and sorrow. This is easily one of the best podcasts out there
  • trinscott08
    5 star!
I love the way you two present true crime. I even got upset reading some of the comments from other people and how rude they are 🥺 I binge listen quite a bit and I can tell the difference in quality from when you guys first started to the quality today. It’s only gotten better when it was already great! True crime podcasts are not just about the presentation but shedding light on cases/topics that may be uncommon. And i personally think you guys do both. I will continue to listen while i work, run errands, clean, etc. ❤️🫶

    Great show!
I just started listening and I am so impressed by this show. I feel that each episode I have listened to so far has been done with such care and details.
  • eschroe3
    Wow
The 9/11 episode was done beautifully. I was moved to tears and kudos to you both for doing it so well.
  • Tarbysmom
Skip it - many better ones
There are so many mispronunciations, wrong word usages, and poor grammar per episode I just don't think I can listen anymore. I started writing them down but they just occur too often for me to keep up. Careless careless careless – they don't look up the names of people/cities/businesses to find out how to pronounce them - can't even pronounce normal words with the proper inflection. And I'm not remotely interested in how they think each case relates to themselves. They need to take podcast lessons from Mr. Casefile. Episodes are poorly written, poorly researched, poorly delivered – I have to be done with them now otherwise I'll lose my mind. The subject matter is the only thing interesting and the only reason I have listened thus far.
  • Chachaeee
    Please learn correct grammar.
I am BEGGING Courtney to learn correct grammar. She never gets he/him, me/I, or she/her correct and it’s absolutely maddening. The content they put out is great, but I genuinely had to stop listening because of this. “Him and his wife did….” “My husband and me went to…” It’s crazy to have a podcast and make dozens of grammatical mistakes every single episode.
  • Anniejo212
Absolutely the best true crime podcast!
I love you guys so much!Once I found this podcast I couldn’t help but binge all the episodes. Now I anxiously wait for a new episodes every week. Thank you for what you do and thank you bringing such interesting and in-depth information to true crime enthusiasts like myself!
