Scooby-Doo302Great pod but skip all the JonBenet episodes unless you want to pull your hair out.I’ve listened since almost the beginning and this continues to be a podcast I greatly enjoy. I understand profiling isn’t a science, and is majorly prone to bias, but most of the time I find the profiler’s insights interesting, and can understand the use for it in police investigations or cases. But seriously, avoid the episodes about JonBenet Ramsey, especially the letter analysis. It felt like Julia and Bob were dancing around the fact that nothing in the “ransom letter” was written in earnest. They come out and say they both believe she was killed by an intruder. All the JBR episodes are colored by this perspective.

chinawhite66A different kind of true crimeI love this podcast. The whole profiling aspect is so interesting. I feel like I’m getting educated as well as entertained. There is another profiling show but I couldn’t deal with the presentation of it. The one host was always yelling and getting worked up and I couldn’t stand the woman’s voice. This is so much better!!

Lisa2018 OKRefreshing objective analysisI listen to a lot of true crime and enjoy The Consult and The Prosecutors for their true objective interpretation and multiple expert insights. I appreciate the relaxing voices and thought provoking discussions.

Kewaunee GalVocal FryAlthough the content is great, I have difficulty listening to a host with vocal fry. It is a common affectation, but it sounds bad in headphones.

BschoraFLUFF FACTOR: 13%/ Episode length: 48 mins. / Fluff time, round-up: 06 mins. / Avg time between fluff: 12 mins. / Fluff%: 13% / Based on episode: 64P1 ========================== Some of these interview recordings have pretty bad quality. Example, Sherry Black. The quality of the person being remotely recorded is SO bad. The volume is on the highest possible setting and its still not easy to hear him. Faint and garbled. Yet, the host is coming in LOUD and clear. Three episodes of this? Ugh.

ALG@1983Five StarsAs someone who listens to a lot of true crime podcasts this was a great discovery. The details covered are well thought out and intelligently communicated. I first listened to the Ellen Greenberg case (insane that this was classified a suicide) and am more sure than ever that she was murdered. Excellent show!!
-
simplemom2Ellen Greenberg series is SUPERB 🥇Ellen Greenberg series covers the most crucial pieces of her story in a way you won’t find anywhere else. Found it to be objective, intelligent, insightful & perfect comprehensive summary of the most important pieces of evidence in determining her true manner of death. Unfortunately we are missing several pieces of vital info that may be never be known as only the crime scene held the answers. Josh & Sandee deserve to have their daughter’s story heard along with theirs of living daily for the past 14yrs with this cruel injustice. Thank you for sharing Ellen’s story with such empathetic accuracy.

badkitty13xxNo frills true crimeI just came across this Podcast and I’m so glad that they’re covering the Ellen Greenberg case. I heard this case initially on another podcast and just couldn’t believe that anyone in their right mind would say this was a suicide. As someone who suffers from major anxiety and has been taking medication for years for this disorder, the first thing I thought was if you’re gonna kill yourself, why wouldn’t you just take your whole bottle of benzos and take your life that way? Why go through horror of stabbing herself in the chest, head and neck? Furthermore, how do we know that the boyfriend didn’t tinker with that swinging lock to make it look like it was actually engaged, when it may not have been? This case smells fishy, thank you so much for covering it.

MerrimackValleyAliMy Favorite PodcastThis is such a fascinating podcast. You guys provide such thoughtful insights and analyses. Thank you for taking the time to do so, and sharing your expertise. I also want to update this to add that I have had a positive listening experience every episode, and can always hear all of the hosts very clearly. I saw that there were some reviews re sound quality, but the audio sounds normal to me. All of the hosts are excellent and undoubtedly put a lot of effort into each episode, generously sharing their knowledge with us. I really enjoy the “consult” discussion format. Aptly named! This continues to be my favorite podcast. Thanks to all involved in making it!

PodcastListener-2020InterestingReally informative. I would give it 5 stars if Julia’s cohosts would get better microphones so I could hear them better.
-
Simmar101ExcellentI am so impressed with this podcast. It’s incredible to observe the thinking and process that goes into behavior analysis in Depth. I appreciate that there is knowledge of mental illness considered during analysis. Thank you so much for making this! I’m learning so much.

Frick-frackEducational and awesome!Love The Consult & Julia. The audio can be a little wonky from Bob, Susan & Angela at times, but I love hearing the perspectives and undeniable facts from Profilers (retired or not) who actually worked the majority of these cases. And if they didn’t work them, they have to tools to delve into the psychopathy of violent offenders.
-
Maryann ZenMy new favoriteLove this and the collaboration with Jack Fox!
-
Avonmomof4Really enjoy but……to clarify, was Sherry Black stabbed and beaten to death by Earl or found by Earl? Your descriptions can be confusing sometimes!
-
karilove1980Brilliant and humble hostI appreciated her analysis of Ramsey case. Finally insights I haven’t heard before. I also appreciated the high level of respect in regards to victim and family as the analysis was shared.
-
Mprice423Extremely Repetitive BanterI just listened to the “Mansion Murders” episode, and wow. Just heard the word “callous” about 20 times when describing the profile of the suspect. The last 15 min was just an endless repetitive circle. Just sayin, I was expecting a lot more from retired FBI profilers.
-
SKGFranVictim blamingI really liked this podcast and thought I found a new mind hunters/ criminal minds outlet until they started victim blaming.
-
Laur56Phenomenal PodI binged nearly all the episodes in 1 week and I absolutely love this podcast. Make a zillion more episodes please :)
-
Prime8My new favorite!I love the breakdowns and the unique, professional take on the cases covered. It’s made me think of things in new ways, even cases I feel I know inside and out.
-
3211413The bestI’m always delighted to get a new episode of The Consult. There is no better insight. Keep going, Julia and crew! We appreciate you all.

COJoeBroCompelling, Insightful, and RespectfulThis podcast captured my attention from the first listen. There is no bravado whatsoever and zero sensationalism just thoughtful analysis, careful observation, passion for profiling and respect for victims. The host is humble and u
-
BlackRawbRepetitiveI appreciate what this podcast is trying to do but are we going to hear in almost every case about “change in behavior or appearance”? I’d hope this would elevate above basic crime procedures.
-
Amy98034Such a great podcast! My favorite podcast by far! Love it!! I have listened to every episode multiple times and learn something new each time. Thanks so much to everyone involved in making this podcast :)
-
KateW555Great PodcastThis is a great podcast that offers in depth information and knowledgeable speakers. Also, I just found out about the Prosecutors via this show. So, now there’s officially more than one person that was aware of your show first! :)
-
Mirror_SeaHave an episode about the good profilers doI also want to say that a passive voice in writing is NOT a feminine characteristic. I just question when have profilers ever helped solve a case? All they do is benefit themselves seems like.
-
GreenBananaYumI love this show!I listen to a whole lot of True Crime podcasts… this is my favorite right now. It gets better and better, so if you start with the earliest episodes keep going.
-
KripsyBeefClinicalAs an LCSW I appreciate Julia’s drive for airtight assessment. I would love to hear a discussion of Jason Derek Brown (FBI #489) who was found to no longer meet criteria for the top Most Wanted in December of 2022. His father also eluded capture years before.
-
pdxpostalLove this show in general but………I feel like there can definitely be some old school , southern religious, confirmation bias thinking on this episode in particular. Especially from the main female host .
-
jglovelessGreat content- terrible soundI really like Julia’s insights and I might like those of her guests IF I COULD HEAR THEM. Please get some technical advice on how to improve the sound quality so your audience gets the benefit of the expertise of all your participants.
-
mbh54GreatExcellent view from retired consultants of series that lend a perspective that is unique and quality!
-
SethRoersInterestingWhy is Merck advertising on a murder podcast?
-
erin vgVery informative with objective perspectivesThis is my newest find and favorite podcast. Truly value the informative opinions presented and appreciate the compassion and dedication given for victims and their families.
-
Christie in TNWowI’ve listened to prosecutors since the start and I’ve never heard anything political so last reviewer is delusional. Also great podcast
-
ndowens01Way Better than The ProsecutorsMore detailed analysis and discussion and no reading from a script or notes, unlike The Prosecutors. Also, unlike The Prosecutors, it doesn’t come with the behind-the-scenes Trump bootlicking baggage and the suppression of voting rights and abortion and the paranoid ramblings of a hack writer about gun rights and how evil the left is. I couldn’t continue to listen to people who pretend to be kind and good but are closeted Christian Nationalists who basically hate most people who aren’t like them and aren’t honest about that fact to their listeners. Conservative is fine; Republican, I can deal with. Far right fascism, I cannot. Eff those turds. Eff The Prosecutors and their nonsense. Go The Consult! Well worth the switch.
-
ritamaeartInsightfulI am enjoying the discussion of professionals. The lack of ranting and raving is a great plus. Difficult topics handled intelligently.
-
LadyFreeman19My new fave podcastLove the perspectives from each profiler and the way the cases are covered. Even though it’s still new, it’s a well done podcast.
-
sara7489Objective and interestingI appreciate that this is a professional and objective podcast without dramatization. Just the facts and analysis. I love it! It’s so interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts on the profile of the perpetrators, and when they say things I think, “I wouldn’t have thought of that, but it makes so much sense!” The Robert Wone series was very well done—I hope he can get justice. I found this podcast through The Prosecutors. Keep up the good work, Julia and gang. :)
-
JkhdsjnjncxIntriguingA deep dive podcast on true crime. A very cerebral, fact based analysis of cases. Can’t get enough. They leave no stone in turned when examining cases. Great job Consult. My new favorite!
-
jran3Love this podcast!I’m a state prosecutor, former police officer. I’ve been practicing law for 23 yrs. Half on the defense side, half on the prosecution side. My secret desire to be a profiler never happened, but I live it vicariously through The Consult. Keep up the good work!
-
flowerfarmerAllieTop notch! The best true crime podcast for its authentic look at cases and profiles; experts from the field with actual expertise vs others those with so much speculation and sensationalism; well done.
-
@josiah4311If you’re a fan of True Crime Podcasts, this will be your new favorite showThe Consult has quickly risen to the top of my true crime podcast list. The hosts are extremely knowledgeable (they are, in fact, retired FBI profilers). Any true crime podcast listener would love this podcast. Would recommend to anyone! Thank you to the Prosecutors (another great podcast) who recommended this podcast!
-
b3853rGreat fact based information!I’ve been listening for about 2 months. I have enjoyed hearing professionals in different law enforcement fields explain exactly what they do & why. Looking forward to catching up & continuing listening.
-
LHomseyA True Gem of a Pod!This podcast is a true gem! I find each episode so insightful and I really trust the hosts because of their long term experiences in the field. They truly care for the victims and want to assist other agencies with their questions. The recent episodes with Ed Dentzel however, were so incredibly cringy due to his inflated ego, that I had to stop listening. I can’t wait for the next episodes, sans Ed!!
-
InspectorKelseyGreat, minus most recent episode formatThis is an exceptional podcast with a winning, predictable panel analysis format. I found the recent interview with Ed Dentzel to be patience-testing and meandering, so I hope they return quickly to the usual episode content and structure. It’s why I listen to this podcast.
-
MJManoliFascinating!Stumbled upon this fantastic podcast today and I am so intrigued to hear the perspective of FBI profilers and to learn more about how they approach their work. Thanks for making this!
-
PurplefangBedfordJust listened to the Bo Bedford episode. Sounds like a waste of time and resources to me. One less drug dealing perophile sounds like a good thing. Seems like a better use of energy would be working on recent crimes that actually matter.
-
SwordfishtonightGreat angleReally interesting and different take in the true crime genre. It's compelling to listen to the analysis- you can put together all of the different skills the speakers are using to create their profile. (Taking physical, psychological, and social circumstances in combination). You feel like you are in the room. I want more!
-
Professor PetticoatLove this!If you like The Prosecutors then you might love this podcast.
