Natstan03FantasticReally good podcast ! Great job - highly recommend -

HMA5000Wow! 🦈I put this on for background noise and ended up really enjoying it. All the politics that you wouldn’t think that were involved… Nobody deserved to have died in that matter (especially the young teenager!) but if you get bit after YEARS of warnings, then that is on you.

kceclectic1WWWWAAAAAAAYYYYYY too long!!Man, started good but just went on for far too long!! This should have been half the episodes!!
-
NC2673Great!Great podcast unlike any other I’ve listened to.
-
Whiteout4queen!!!💜🦈I love sharks, and this is the best podcast about them! 💜💜💜🦈🦈🦈

rosa manzoI need some citationsDid someone really say “ The lynching, and yes that is the correct word, of some deserving humans would not make me shred a tear as much as the fishing of this unfortunate shark appalls me.” ?? Who says that?

Miami_LoverWorth the listenjust finished binging this show and wow. Feels like I’m on the island with them. I do feel bad for the locals but great series on awareness of shark attacks on the island.
-
me happy all the timeInteresting subject matterVery enjoyable series, I feel for the people there, living in an island paradise with natural horrors lurking beneath. Main issue I had was that narrator’s constant chuckling/giggling interrupts the flow. Would be better if his delivery was more serious.

ashahadyFantastic!!!I know nothing about surfing and sharks and had never even heard of Reunion Island until this podcast but I loved every single episode! If you love podcasts that dive deeply into an issue and as a result reveal hidden layers of nuance, this is a great podcast to throw into your rotation. Another homerun from Hyper Object Industries.

Truthful InsightPoor hosting/editingGreat topic; sadly as with many hosts, he turned focus on himself unnecessarily rather that those being interviewed/story, staying focused on aspect at hand. Laughs inappropriately at times, rude and unprofessional; grotesquely sensationalizes the story with insensitivity, instead of saying ‘where the person was devoured’ you could respectfully say where ‘they passed away’ or even killed. Too much fun capitalizing on the tragedy. Editing: Too many Long pauses, is the episodes over?? Music selection for some of it was off the mark. Some episodes could have been more concise; interview sequencing could have been impotences. Not sure that the ending left is with anything substantive. Had lots of potential for respectful, good storytelling but fell short.

sportyspice11Too drawn outInteresting topic but I couldn’t get through it. Should have been much more concise without all the filler. Could have been told in half the number of episodes, and possibly even fewer episodes.

akpsijulieFantastic episodesLove the information and the host. Solid listen. Highly recommend.

Suppercatscratch747Flawlessly DoneThis show is so well done. It’s thorough and the host is very compassionate and easy to listen to. It’s well balanced and allows the listener to consider all factors without pushing a particular agenda or slant. I find myself being sympathetic to everyone especially the sharks.

tater-tatzInteresting topics, learning a lot of thingsI am a shark enthusiast but I have never heard of the story of reunion island. I think the narrator does a good job telling the story and it’s easy for me to follow. Learning a lot of new things about sharks. The beginning episodes had alot of audio with very thick French accents which was a bit tough for me to listen through and follow along with. Other than that it’s a great listen!

Riomar JPA superb production and dignified coverage of a very difficult subjectI learned of this story from an interview between Dan Duane and the founders of the Florida Surf Film Festival. I listened to it while on vacation on pre/post surf session walks in San Diego, Laguna Beach, and Los Angeles. Finished the last episode walking the beach here on Orchid Island. As a lifelong surfer, I’ve always had a respectful concern for sharks in the lineup. I’ve been bumped and brushed, but never bitten. I cannot imagine the terror or the trauma experienced by those who have and survived. Dan does a fantastic job of giving his interview subjects the space and respect to tell their stories. I can’t say that I would venture into the waters of Reunion Island, but I will definitely travel there someday.

EtownbettySo coolI love this podcast

Janeen650Interesting and Well DoneI greatly enjoyed this podcast. The story is compelling and told in a respectful manner. I thought the narrator’s voice was calming and enjoyable to listen to. Don’t be deterred by any of the low reviews. This is worth a listen!

its frank da haoleStop with the dad laugh DDDecent show that provides some good information about sharks in reunion island. However, the host Daniel Dwayne makes this difficult to listen to due to his tendency to chuckle as he’s presenting information. I’m not sure why he peppers the narrative with his little laugh, perhaps it is to disarm some of the information that he is describing, but it almost makes this podcast on listenable. Double D, if you’re reading this, just stop laughing and talk like a normal dude.
-
StumpyelleInteresting topic, poorly toldInteresting topic, but should have been 1-2 60 minute episodes. Host laughs at inappropriate moments. Sound volume was frustratingly variable. Ending was unsatisfying. Needed an editor to help with identifying weaknesses, and focusing the host.

CPN87So Much More Than Sharks!Love love love!! Such a fascinating look at how animal right, community, culture, and fear all add up and butt heads. Especially as we all try to sort out climate change and changing global structure, etc.

SPivMcshark attack in paradiseone of the finest podcasts i’ve ever listened to. This is more than shark sensationalism. it is a peek into a unique world and culture and The creator/ narratoror is incredibly compassionate with everyone he interviews which helps these remarkable people open up to him under painful circumstances. i couldn't stop listening.
-
Anthropoid11Could have been one Radiolab episodeInteresting topic, should have been one 60-minute episode, two tops. There is so much repeated content and filler (the “wicked problem” set up was exhausting, for example) that we ended fast forwarding the last 5 minutes of each episode and the first 5-7 minutes of the following episode. Also, the French interpreter had a very strong accent so we lost 30-40% of what was said. With all of the paid subscriptions now on podcasts, I think they are creating multi-episode series just to try to get people to pay for the rest of the series when the story should have been told in an episode or two.

Leilani age 10Love itWow just wow I love listening to this stop whatever you are doing and watch this

KrisMillerJDPerfectly doneThis is probably the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Thoroughly researched, well paced, very interesting and unique story. Loved learning about Reunion. Extremely well done.

HollywoodMABElite ListenExtremely intriguing topic, to say the least. The translation of certain words can be a bit difficult to decipher. However, the narration is good - but the story is captivating. With the Podcast space awash with all-too-quick-to-market rag stories, this particular Pod stands out. Well done, guys!

by50&;hxGood podcastGreat topic. Host - please stop laughing at your own comments, very annoying.
