kyarokoCome back!We need more of your discourse in this brave new world!

Chel_mar_11Get a new cohost and truth about Sally RooneyI want to love this podcast but I can’t stand one of the hosts (it’s obvious which one). The comment consensus on her is clear and she offers little-just parrots the other host who is superb. I did appreciate how much she hates sally Rooney though.

enfpa2Love themI love their conversations. Chill and hilarious—e.g., the Jane Eyre episode. I see some people complaining about vocal fry/intonation. I’m super sensitive to that that and don’t listen to some podcasters because of it, but neither of them bothers me in the slightest. Just shows listeners are all different. I recommend this podcast to all my friends.

College Student-juniorThorough and Fun!So glad claræ is back!!! *** I’ve been looking forma good book pod for awhile. I’m so happy to stumble across this podcast. The hosts not only have great chemistry but also did their homework. They’re bringing in history, literary criticism and popular criticism to their assessment of the pod. I really like this structure. Funnily enough, I actually liked reading Seven Husbands and was laughing right along with the hosts in Episode 1. I’m so excited to hear what they have in store. I’m hoping we get a heads up the booms to come (so I get a chance to catch up on my TBR list).

Isabelle Luna 24I LiTeRAllLy caaaan’t?I love reading and have read a lot of books they reviewed. After 10 minutes of this I had to stop listening. The white podcast host’s voice is extremely annoying and she doesn’t add much to the conversation. She says literally every 5 seconds and her voice goes up an octave at the end of every sentence like she’s asking a question. She is either a valley girl or trying very hard to sound like one. I really liked listening to Clara Bell so its a bummer.

Henrytex618Untitled ReviewI just found this podcast! I’m an avid reader and after listening to the first episode I think I’m going to enjoy the show quite a bit. One caveat…Clara’s vocal fry & “uptalk” is hugely annoying and distracting. Clare can do no wrong in my opinion though, so I’m hoping that makes up for her partner!
-
JujuBeeeeee67Such funI really enjoy listening to these two talk about books so much that I’m now trying to prioritize books from my list that they have done episodes on!
-
Mih_HallMaybe I started with the wrong episode…I started with the Sally Rooney episode and perhaps that was a mistake. Clare was UNBEARABLE. Like she clearly didn’t like this book and did everything in her power to rip it apart and pretend like there is only one way to have friendship, only one way to communicate, and was so judgmental. It was exhausting. And I’m a black woman and can relate to the privileged stuff, but I still was embarrassed by the way she acted. It was so silly and over the top and unfair to her cohost. Do better. Hopefully I can update this review after other episodes.

liz1397Clara Hates Review TitlesImpeccable book review podcast. Feels like I’m listening to my friends talk about the books :) The humor from them that we all love from their social media works perfectly in this format. New love!
-
NebbynAtThey’re smart and insightfulBut! I am not the first person saying this, but the vocal fry and accent of the cohost Clara. I try to be tolerant and nonjudgmental; but, I am judging here. It really makes it tough to listen to. Pronouncing “class” as “closs,” it makes me cringe. I hope that I get used to it, because they have interesting things to say.
-
EricGlenn44Just okTwo people with practically the same exact perspective. It might be improved with guest hosts coming with a different perspective to make the conversation more interesting.
-
Nova1881Can’t decideI love Clara on insta and I love the books they are discussing. But the vocal fry keeps sending me over the edge.
-
elissarcadefireSo fun!Such thoughtful and intentional analysis that is also fun! Love the relationship between both hosts especially when they disagree. Looking forward to next season!!!
-
paz_leyLove, love it!Clara and Clare are fun to listen to, I love their podcast. Their critiques are so smart and I love their detailed breakdowns.
-
reviewnicknameistakenFunThese two are funny and thoughtful in their critique of books. (They’re also hysterical on IG and probably great in tiktok but I’m too old for that 😂.)
-
Sheller317Love this podcastI followed both on Instagram separately, and just found out they have this shared podcast, because apparently I’ve been living under a rock. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to listen to more.
-
Stacie VoStopYou’re intelligent. Stop dragging out the last syllable of every word. It’s not cute, it’s not funny. If you like listening to someone say “harry” as “haraaay” this will hit the spot for you.
-
Jenni in LICNope, not for me!Wow these ladies are annoying! The vocal intonation alone was enough to give this podcast a one star review. And they absolutely missed the point of Lessons in Chemistry.
-
faith taytay<3so slay!these women are so funny and so incredibly intelligent! they completely changed my perspective on one of my former favorite books - tshoeh - and im not mad, they were so right!! i cannot wait to listen to more episodes, and here some more of their fire takes - they never miss‼️🤭💅
-
Nick n PeterGood perspectives, but tone is cringyClara has good intentions, but her conversational tone is discrediting
-
JulieGLJLike chatting with friendsI truly appreciate that these ladies’ takes on books are so similar to mine, yet they still manage to make me think differently about what I’ve read. It’s an easy listen with smart, funny women.
-
whywhywhy@gmailGreat podcastSo funny and informative. My only criticism is that it only comes out every other week!
-
casthirschAwesome podcast butI love the podcast and the content they discuss but could not keep listening to Clara’s accent. I’m sorry
-
APFDAFun book conversations! These women are smart and funny! I love listening to the discussion and actually enjoyed it more when they disagreed on “Beautiful World Where Are You”. It wasn’t awkward, it was funny- I was laughing out loud. More of it please!
-
BeccaDD30A New FavoriteI love listening to Claire and Clara! They are the kind of intelligent fun that is the perfect engaging entertainment I need in my life right now. I’m going to miss them while waiting for season 2!
-
Upper Upper WestLove this podcastI couldn’t cohesively summarize why I didn’t like Lessons in Chemistry when everyone else LOVED it and these ladies did it for me. Thank you.
-
garden girl 1229Wonderful podcast from book loversI look forward to this podcast every week. Not only have they saved me time letting me know which books to not read (looking at you Evelyn Hugo) but they discussed one of my top ten in the last decade, Sea of Tranquility. They mix old classics with new and it’s so refreshing.
-
kteastarReally enjoy this podcastI found this podcast through an Instagram add and I’m obsessed. These ladies are funny, smart, interesting and I’d love to hang out IRL not just as a third wheel.
-
Noras two dogsCan’t get past valley girl talking stylesee above.
-
Esh1997Wish I had found this later so I could binge more episodesThis show is fantastic! I love the mixture of intellectual book conversation and witty banter. These two have such a fun friendship to listen in on! They keep the length tight and engaging, though tbh I could listen for hours on end. My only complaint is that I found this show too early and don’t have very many episodes to binge!

MrsfedBravo and Encore!I follow both these amazing women independently of one another on TikTok (and have for years now). I love for their skits, perspective, and beautiful voices. And then come to find out they have a podcast about … drumroll… BOOKS?!?! Magic. Sheer magic. And the book choices? Amazing. I am in love with these minds and vocal cords. Haven’t missed an episode. Way to bring me back to podcasts ladies! —————-————————————————— Ok, I changed it to 4 stars—- You Made a Fool was a horrible book, I want the time I spent reading it back. Sea of Tranquility was a bit boring. And the Sally Rooney hatred was a bit too much. Not liking the book felt so “pick me girl” — but I get it because I do not love Coleen Hoover. Yet, the deep hatred for this book felt like if the characters were artists sleeping with their fiends fathers it would have been fine ;) Feyi and Alice are equally terrible people on the inside and mirror each other in the way they navigate life in the most selfish way possible. I will put it back to 5 stars I’m sure, but those 3 episodes were rough. And it started so good!
-
breslicoLove love loveI started following this podcast after falling in awe of Clara and Claire on their IG accounts. Both brilliant, hilarious, cutting. To learn they are friends IRL with a podcast about books? Yes. The podcast is all of those things and inspires me to read more, reminds me that books, and our reflections upon them, are life. So thanks to them. Can't wait for their interview with Sally Rooney!?:):)
-
Anned Just Like ThatThey’re delightful! That’s all, that’s the review.
-
AspalifeGreat Taste in BooksI love the books they pick l. Discussions are informed but not too serious. Can’t wait to see what they read next!
-
JaneLizCBest Podcast I’ve Ever Listened To!The only thing I don’t like is that there aren’t endless episodes… I like it so much I’ve re-listened to some episodes. Is that sad?
-
LetitsnowbbFabulous! Almost better than reading the books.Intelligent, entertaining, insightful, witty!! I had a 5 hour drive and discovered this podcast - can’t wait to have more opportunities to tune in.
-
AN117Love this show…but edit pretty pleaseEnjoy this show a lot. I like the banter, the length of the show and how they get right into talking about a book. But please edit. Clara called Emily St. John Mandel “Hilary” at least twice in the Sea of Tranquility episode which felt so cringy. Y’all have some super insightful takes so these basic errors just feel like such a bummer.
-
MzooSmart and FunnyHosts have a great rapport and very smart commentary. I wish they could announce the books for the next week beforehand so they could be read prior to the episode but owrheise love everything about the show!
-
mcn1130Love!Enjoying this podcast so so much! Thank you!
-
MargoklessSmart, articulate commentary that’s also hilarious!Love Clare and Clara.
-
PA-viewerRoom to growIf Clara invested in vocal coaching, this would be a cute 5 stars. They both have insightful thoughts, but Clara’s voice detracts from some very good points she makes. She’s talking about books, but it sounds like she’s a teenager talking about insignificant drama that happened at the prom.
-
LmsturFunny and insightful!Such wonderful insights!! Love it!
-
Paula in CharlestonMy new favorite book podcast! So fun, like hanging out with friends. Great balance of thoughtful analysis and lighthearted conversation. Love it!
-
MelFeltLiterary, insightful, and funnyI love the insightful, honest discussions about these best sellers that just are not great. Clara and Claire are smart, funny, and insightful.
-
lkb1989#Love!Enjoying this podcast very much! The hosts are relatable and fun to listen to.
-
Lier122As a Claire, I am a fanClare and Clara have a lot to say. Their voices make me laugh in a good way. And they don’t always agree with the main stream. I really appreciate their critical thinking rather than fawning over best sellers. Keep at it, ladies. It really helps to have your views. Also I love your names. Mine is Claire. Maybe you could have me on the pod and we could be Clare, Clara and Claire!
-
celemondsLong live vocal fry!!!!Love this podcast.
-
BubblekirbI like but…I do like this podcast but I don’t think that Taylor Jenkins Reid is an author of color. Please correct me if I am wrong.
-
Izzy THE LIONGreat depth!I really like the podcast! It’s the first one I’ve found that actually talks in depth about the books and what they thought it’s really like a book club(: on a side note (not meant to be offensive at all) Clara is giving Alexis from Schitts creek vibes in the best way!
-
AnabelstlYou put it into wordsI’ve only listened to Tmrw x3 and Evelyn Hugo but you put so many of my thoughts into your conversation. I really loved the writing and so many aspects of T3 even though I kinda hated Sam and Sadie (Marx 4 Eva). I still want more people to read it and talk about it with me. And Evelyn Hugo had/has so much buzz and it was so…meh. I also liked Harry but a good best gay doesn’t save a blah book. You pointed out even more of the icky “white woman writing weirdly outside her lane” stuff that I couldn’t put my finger on. Onto Jane Eyre then I gotta read more books. And y’all gotta get on the Storygraph. It’s the place to be!
