SamanthaRetana905 hooksThe new season is great! I love you guys! Jon, more of your personality is coming out this season, and I'm here for it!
-
MickiNicki8Great Movie RecsI love this podcast! We recently took their rec on Strange Darling and went in blind - what an amazing film I might never have heard about otherwise. My request is a review of Absentia, the only Mike Flanagan I haven't seen yet.

MLKinney6785 stars from this horror wimp!Generally speaking, I am a huge wimp when it comes to horror movies. That Was Pretty Scary has made me find a new found love of all things scary! FPJ and JLB summarize each movie from an artful perspective. I love getting insight on how a director might think when setting a scene for a film. If I’ve never seen the movie reviewed, I instantly want to watch it and those I have seen, get a rewatch! I can’t wait for the start of season 3, hopefully they will review some of my A24 favorites like Midsommar or Hereditary.

Shaynan-AgainsGenerations of EntertainmentMy son and I listen to your That Was Pretty Scary podcast every Wednesday after his return from school. It has been so nostalgic as it feels like the older generation of listening to a story via radio waves. We have made so many memories sharing your enthusiasm for horror films. It’s been a much needed break from the screen time and we love the audio critical analysis and informative insight to the film industry. My favorite is the action sequence descriptions from Freddie and the banter back from the quit wit of Jon Lee Brody. That brings so much joy and laughter to the story. Sometimes it’s better than the movie (just sayin’ with much love and respect). The experience brings me back to listening to audio thrillers on cassette tape like “Suspense” with my Grandpa Joe. It makes the imagination pop! I too am a 80’s -90’s kid, so I can relate to so much that Freddie shares and I even grew up watching him and Sarah Michelle as I was their age. My two college aged girls are forever Buffy fans! Me I was a “I know what you did” fan even read the book and had the soundtrack, lol, not kidding! Huge Scream fan, too, and my daughter is named Sidney. She loves the backstory too. Sidney Prescott was a powerful character. As a daughter of a big movie family, I was raised with movie trivia by our younger uncle (more like a brother) who was a mega horror fan. RIP Uncle Dewayne. He had us watching the B stuff, too! he’d await patiently for from Aardvark video. When you share your personal anecdotes of going to the movie store or sleepover it brings me back to mine as well. Another opportunity to bond with my son about those experiences that were buried by the mundane. There have been so many hidden gems of films I found I missed like Chopping Mall and somehow Poltergeist (I don’t know how) and was able to make fun memories with these movie nights with the family. We can also bring some interesting insider knowledge after listening to the excellent recap. I know it’s the longest review ever but you have something here! I have shared your podcast with so many people and can’t wait for another season! Thank you to all who create this podcast for us to enjoy! Appreciate you!

kaadu12Five Gleaming HooksFound these guys not by being a horror fan, but by being a corgi fan (Shout out to sweet angel Shelby!). However, this show has been a great way to get insights into movies that are too scary for me, but that my friends love. FPJ’s humor and Movie Guy Voice are entertaining, with JLB’s knowledge on how the films were created make this show fun for any cinephile. The hosts’ passion for horror movies comes through well, plus it feels like I’m just hanging out with friends. Will def keep this in my podcast rotation. My request to add to the library is something by my cousin, Annie Ilonzeh. She’s done a handful of horror movies! (:

praxis78MehThey just describe movie plots without giving a critical review.
-
saaaracatherineFantastic Hosts!I love this podcast so much! I started listening over a year ago when Ash & Alaina casually mentioned Freddie had a horror movie podcast on their network. It is so cool to hear all the behind the scenes industry info these guys have! I’m almost finished with the back catalogue and can’t wait for new episodes.
-
Harrison_2000Great podcastFound this podcast about a week ago and haven’t stopped listening. Been trying to find a horror movie podcast for a while, and I finally found you guys. Love that you guys never bash a movie, the filmaker, actor etc. it’s all love and appreciation for the film. You guys always find the positive in movies whereas others just love to hate, it’s refreshing! I love hearing Freddie’s stories about his experience in the movie industry and enjoy all of Jons knowledge of the movies you guys watch. Would be ecstatic if you guys were to watch and talk about one of my favorite horror movie John Carpenters “The Thing”. Keep it up guys!
-
KerM884Binge worthy podcast! This podcast is my current obsession! I’m binge listening and I’m loving the insight on these movies. Some I’ve never heard, but watched because of you.
-
AngieF-IndianaAbsolutely Love These GuysI’ve loved FPJ since I Know What You Did Last Summer so I had to check out this podcast since he is a part of it (and because of my Morbid girlies) but this podcast is so much fun! FPJ and Jon break down the movies in such a fun way! Love finding and watching the movies they cover that I have never heard of too! If you love horror and love to laugh then this is a podcast you need to follow and listen to 100%! Much love to you Freddie and Jon!
-
Ash ShevLove every choice you make!!I absolutely love this podcast! I look forward to new episodes and listen to them right away. I love foreign horror movies, especially Korean and Japanese classics, and it’s awesome to see those covered on a podcast! I’m loving your recent discussions about Giallo films too, Argento is another favorite of mine. It would be AWESOME if you guys watched the original Suspiria, it’s the film that turned me on to horror. Thanks for doing an amazing job guys! Please please pleaseeee watch The Ritual on Netflix and cover it!! It seems like the kind of film you’d both love, and I’d love to hear your takes!
-
tatiana1xLove your PodcastJust discovered this pod and I’ve already listened to so many episodes. I love horror movies. Freddie’s descriptions are so funny. My one suggestion for a horror movie to cover is Vivarium.
-
Caseylee61087Not A Better PodcastFreddie and John are the best narrators. This podcast is untouchable in my opinion. I would love two episodes a week. There hasn’t been a bad episode yet.
-
Jcm8005 bloody hooksReally fun pod to listen to. I have seen most of the old school movies and love the breakdown of them. I always check out the newer ones that are going to be covered. Really digging what y’all are putting down.. 5 bloody hooks all around.

Mmgadd01One of my favoritesThis podcast makes driving, work, and chores all way more enjoyable ! Great chemistry and insights. FPJ and JLB keep the discussions super accessible. Bwade315Helen shivers for lifeI’ve been crushing on fpj since ikwydls and this pod is a lot of fun as a horror nerd. I cannot wait to hear the strangers episode. I was gonna comment requesting it but so happy I don’t even need to. The scariest movie to me in the last 25 years.
-
blanca panda 💕Love the reviews 😃5 hooks! Would love to hear a review on any M. Night movie.
-
Squatch yoselfThat Was Pretty…AWESOMEFreddie seems like a genuinely nice dude who I would want to have a beer with and chat about scary movies and the 90s. He’s so nice that he just made the top of the SUSPECT LIST. Jon Brody is dope too, but he’s not going to enjoy the movie Cujo with his dog hook rating penalty.
-
Ridley67That was Scary!Hosts have great chemistry and recounting some of their favorite horror movies! Great to hear from Freddi Prinz, Jr. Wish he was in more movies! Cohost has the technical expertise and a bit more behind the scenes info!
-
Steven AripezMemories of MurderThe podcast is great. You guys have great chemistry. I would really love for you guys to do an episode on Memories of Murder.
-
cmon hasboroBy Far My Favorite PodcastThis is such a fun and low stress podcast. Not only do Jon and Freddie have great chemistry but being able to hear their perspectives on these films with their background in film is a treat in itself! 20/10 recommend taking a listen. P.S. Serial Mom would be a great one for the pod!
-
tanamariaFULL FIVE HOOKS…er, STARS!!!I LOVE this podcast. I get to hear my early 20’s CRUSH (whatever, still a crush, we’re ten months apart) absolutely gush about horror movies. Love it. Freddie is giddy discussing all the old movies and I can’t get enough. I love Jon’s view of the movies as well. The behind the scenes things he shares. Also taking off a hook for dog deaths. My guy! Would LOVE LOVE LOVE if you’d review April Fool’s Day. It’s my fave scary movie from when I was a kid. My sister and I would act it out with our Barbie’s. Decapitated heads and all. 😹😹😹 Would love to hear you discuss it. 😻😻😻
-
PuppyBFFLove200The Best Movie Review Podcast!I could listen to you both discuss movies in any genre but horror looks so good on you! Please do Strangers, The Omen, and Hush!
-
NikoschenYou make our Road trips so much better! My hubby and I love your podcast! We travel for work so we are on the road a lot! We are big horror/slasher movie fans and listening to your take on these films is such great fun for us! Thank you for keeping us going and keeping my hubby awake while driving😜. I know you guys mentioned it once during your interview with Tom Holland but please please please do Trilogy Of Terror! I still to this day (I am 51 watched it when I was 5) can not see the little “hatchy man” without completely freaking out!
-
Darth RodScary is FunThis podcast is so fun it’s like sitting down with two younger brothers to talk about scary movies. I look forward to my weekly podcasts with Freddie and Jon. I have always enjoyed watching scary movies because they are scary. With Freddie and Jon’s knowledge of movie making, history, etc, my enjoyment and understand has increased 10 fold. If I could make one suggestion. I would like to see the podcast run a bit longer. Sometimes it’s seems like Freddie and Jon are being rushed. Thanks guys.
-
JennaMonGFresh Spin on Horror PodcastingI really enjoy 'That Was Pretty Scary' - it's a fantastic podcast! I appreciate how the podcast offers various perspectives on films, from technical behind-the-scenes insights to the actors' viewpoints. I would love it if you all would please cover Guillermo del Toro’s 'The Orphanage' on the podcast. It's an incredible movie, and I think you all would love discussing it!
-
angie.83Amazing Podcast!Such an amazing podcast! I can’t wait to hear more!

Dog vomitPerfect podcast, perfect hostsHuge fan of the podcast, it’s making me appreciate my favourite horror movies even more with all the additional insight you give. Would love to hear you do hereditary, I think that movie is an absolute masterpiece.
-
QltygdjgFantasticLove both podcasts you do. This is a good change of pace in terms of the bulk of podcasts I do listen to. Would love a breakdown of Hush and Thirteen Ghosts in the future
-
Soccer1908!An easy 5 hook show!Hey guys, I really enjoy the show. Been a FPJ fan since IKWYDLS, Summer Catch, etc. Love that Freddie can give insight from an actor’s perspective and John gives insight from behind the camera. I’m a nerd for stuff like that. I would love for you guys to review Session 9. An early 2000s psychological horror that stars a pre NYPD Blue David Caruso. It was a random rental from Family Video that turned into a top 4 fav horror for me. Would love to hear your perspectives on it! Thanks again! Luke D
-
gdnxigwbwoxgggekwgzhI still know…how to write a mean reviewJack black was hands down the best part of iskwydls 💪🏻… end mean review, you guys are awesome!
-
ELeafeonBest Horror PorcastAbsolutely enjoy this podcast. Both Freddie and John Lee Brody have great insights about the movie industry and the horror genre. Also love their chemistry and comfortability with each other. Nothing brings down a podcast more then stiff commentary. Thanks for all the movie recommendations! My movie recommendation for you both would be The Descent. Cave horror and monster horror are especially creepy when combined together!
-
puda666you guy are the best!love your intake on my favorite movie genre! highly recommend “freaky”!!! keep up the amazing work guys!
-
Jesterkitty4A hookin good time! One of my favorite podcasts, I’ve even got my boyfriend into loving it too! Always great episodes, laughs and vibes, it’s like I’m hanging out with friends, even when I listen alone. On behalf of my boyfriend and his favorite movie, I would politely and excitedly like to request an episode of the werewolf movie Dog Soliders! We enjoy it on date nights, and I hope you guys will too!! Keep up the awesome work! love from Denver, CO. PS: the phrase “Sexy Chris Sarandon ” is said daily in our house lol!! 👏🏻👏🏻
-
JennyBop23Yes, Yes, a Thousand Times Yes!As a true crime junkie, I wanted a break from actual true crime, cuz as FP says, real life true crime is way scarier than a horror movie. Thank you podcast Gods (and Wondery+) for suggesting y’all! As an early 80’s baby myself, I was instantly drawn to FP (Duh!) or maybe it’s just his movie voice, but then Jon Lee stole my heart because I also take away major points when a dog dies! Regardless- the way you guys deliver recaps and throw in personal stories when it comes to experiences, directors, behind the scene tricks- I’m obsessed. 1 episode a week isn’t enough…but I get it, we’re middle-aged now and tired 😂 At first I only listened to movies I knew, but then went back and can I say…the B list movies, etc I have been exposed to are game changing! I am forever in y’all’s debt for introducing Barbarian to me! Keep it up and never stop! ❤️❤️
-
aidancarlsonMy absolute favorite show! This has become my favorite show, I look forward to it every single week! I hope one day you will do the strangers! Can’t wait for more episodes you guys are the best! Megan
-
angrylfGood showThe hosts have good chemistry and you can tell they love the movies - like hanging out with friends - a really good listen
-
JedicabratLike the show but…I enjoy the podcast. Lots of great commentary about fantastic horror movies. But, how do they not know who Barbara Crampton is?! She’s 80’s horror royalty! Shame on the hosts!! (Episode about Chopping Mall)
-
Deadhead-Dan10Great show, they’re letting me review it again……so 5 stars! Freddie is a Jedi knight in another life so he’s all good by me, and I looked up John Lee Brody and saw he grew up like 12 minutes from me (Chicago NW burbs). Not as funny as Werewolf Ambulance but not trying to be. Perfect for a quick hit with right amount of discussion and not like many other horror pods with people talking to hear themselves or forcing “chemistry”. The insider perspective is helpful / cool / unique compared to other shows too. Other film Suggestions off top of head: One Cut for the Dead DeadTectives Terrifier 2 Annabelle 2 Ouija 2 (Flanagan) Something is Wrong with the Children; Satanic Hispanic, Babysitter (either)
-
Jutchaffee4Awesome podLove this podcast. Great insight and Fun.
-
MsDenises11This is my favorite podcast!I’ve been listening since the first episode and this is a great podcast. It’s like sitting down with friends and talking about favorite horror movies. I would love to watch with you guys and then break it down afterwards because you make it sound so fun. Just listened to Freaky and it did not disappoint. Loved the shoutouts to Happy Death Day which is one of my favorite horror movies. I’d humbly recommend you do April Fool’s Day which is another favorite. I watch horror with my kids and you have introduced us to several we hadn’t seen (like Oculus which twisted up my brain). Keep up the great work and thanks for all the recommendations and reviews.
-
KimShady2310/10 Would RecommendI Know What You Did Last Summer is the greatest horror movie of all time…anddddd this is the greatest horror movie podcast of all time! Please cover It Follows at some point! 🙌🏾
-
Mel12345678melHorrifically Fun!I just love hearing from my Hottie of Horror and the Cinephile extraordinaire. So many movies that I wouldn’t have watched before have now become favorites. I can’t wait to hear what other movies these guys have in store!
-
elizanboo.lovespinsAnother great horror movie podcast!I found this podcast because of my love for the morbid and scream! Podcast . I love horror movies, and this one falls flat, even though I really wanted and tried for a while to love it. Freddy at times can be just straight insulting to people who are in the films when he doesn’t know their names (thank you John for knowing their names ) and if you’re going to have a podcast, maybe do a little bit more research, and be able to give a more in depth review (which I really think John could do if Freddie wasn’t running the show) and it might be more interesting to listen to.
-
winewednesdayLook forward to this every week!!Great podcast with great hosts!
-
KJ MLVLove the hosts and movies selectedThe hosts both have the passion for horror movies to make this podcast interesting, and the personalities to carry it. I’m only only giving it four stars though because a lot of the more recent episodes are just Freddie recapping the movie - literally walking us through the action, punch by punch, rather than analyzing the film or giving behind the scenes info. And some of the info they do give is not researched beforehand. The episodes when they analyze shots or choices made are the best, but they have been few and far in between lately. Recently they did a movie that that one of the hosts was in, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. So many scenes were recapped with very little information, and the hosts began marvel at Brandy’s acting because they didn’t think she had acted before. She had a hit show (Moesha) and Disney’s popular adaptation of Cinderella - easily searchable on IMDb. Also, the one or two episodes where they had guests on were pretty interesting - wish they’d do it more… especially since Freddie’s wife is in a lot of good horror movies and has said she will do the podcast if asked. Well where is it!? Would be great to bring on guests for episodes where they don’t know the movie or don’t want to research
-
Dra7enClownsThese guys have so much experience in the field (well, Freddy does) yet they’re wrong about SO MANY THINGS it’s inexcusable. Being a friend of James Wan does not make you an expert. What a clown show.
-
jabrown16Best movie podcast!!Love this pod!! I hate when i have to wait a week for the next one!! Love Freddie and Jon, great hosts!! Can you guys review Pet Semetary? :( Then again Jon may not give it a good rating! Lol! Love you guys!!
