Surf2Die4Very refreshing! How does this podcast only have five reviews and I’m the first to write one? Found it searching for Furiosa specific episodes, so a happy accident, as it were. My wife and I are ex-pats living in the U.S., I Australian, she a Scot and we watch U.K. shows almost exclusively, although I’m far more the cinephile, with two Tellys in the living room and I use earbuds. We’re very familiar with Johnathan’s work and think he’s a talented and funny bloke, but it didn’t register until I heard him speak. I’ve slogged through eight others who to a man/woman, like or dislike Furiosa, didn’t comprehend the “show don’t tell” with which George excels. I reckon it’s more overt in this one because George was compensating for the majority who see Fury Road as a two-hour vehicles chase and whilst the plot is straightforward there are fascinating stories intertwined, just not spoon fed. Perfect comment from Johnathan re: this and while Honey, ala a couple others isn’t really into action films she, unlike them, still understands what’s going on and it helped her appreciation of this one. The humor was also lost on just about everyone as well. My favorite line, after “Dementus” has been rabbiting on about the futility of hope throughout, when captured by “Furiosa” lunges for her knife, sees it’s just the hilt and says: “That wasn’t hope, that was instinct.” A minor correction: George produced and was very hands on during the entire process, but didn’t direct Babe. He regretted it and did with the “fever dream” Babe: Pig in the City. I work from home and listen to many podcasts, added this one and look uhh, forward to the back catalogue. Cheers, Tony (and Kerowin). ✌️
