    Mai Pen Rai episode disappointing
I enjoy your podcast overall, but I thought the latest episode about Mai Pen Rai was rather inappropriate so soon after the bus tragedy. The episode includes wild speculation without having enough facts. You probably had this episode planned before the bus tragedy, but you should have rescheduled it and waited.

Great dynamic between the two hosts.
Love it. Less interviews and more topics please

    The best podcast
I’ve listened to this podcast—- this is the only podcast I’ve listened to every week for the last 3 years. I absolutely LOVE Greg and Ed’s content and it has helped me go from a 15 year old cross country runner to a professional 18 year old 100 mile runner, and they literally were the ONE podcast I listened to every week before my long reps on a track

    Exposure to Thai culture
I’ve started listening to many new and older episodes to get some exposure to Thai culture and language because we may be going there for a few months. I enjoy the variety of topics covered on this podcast and although they don’t always go into the level of detail I would want, there is plenty of information provided to get a general idea of something and enough to go off if I want to research a particular topic in more depth. I’ve learned a lot from listening so far and look forward to potentially becoming a patron to hear the bonus show which sounds pretty helpful and entertaining. I also appreciate the honesty the hosts speak with so I feel like I can trust them to share their honest opinion and not sugar coat things. Keep it up!

    Thank you
I’m 32 years old and married to a Thai and we are both going to move with our two year old to Bangkok soon (before the new year) and I’ve learned a lot from you two! Thanks! Keep them coming!

Perfect for BKK enthusiasts and residents alike!
Fantastic podcast for those interested in Bangkok and Thailand. This is exactly the type of podcast I was looking for years ago when I first moved here... so glad I finally found it. Highly recommended, loved your neighborhood series!

    Love the show!! Great stuff
Listening to your podcast during the cold winters in foggy San Francisco always brings some Bangkok warmth. Additionally the square dessert mentioned in season 3 Episode 6 is called pineapple cake and is famous in Taiwan. It’s really funny you guys mentioned it because I had just brought some back from there to the US today.

    Very Random Content
Listened to a few episodes. 90% random content having nothing to do about Thailand. Mostly hosts talking about themselves in their middle class lifestyle. But anything is better than nothing.

Mandatory listening for those coming to, in, or having left Bangkok
With so many amazing podcasts out there today, could two guys doing a low budget podcast really make something special? Surprisingly, the answer is a resounding yes! The Bangkok Podcast breaks down the mysteries, minutiae and mundane of Bangkok. It hits upon the questions you had but were afraid to ask about Kreung Tep. Yet, the charm of the podcast really lies in the rapport between it’s two cohosts Greg and Ed. They are able to take topics such as traffic or taxis, not things one would not imagine could be that interesting, and make the topic entertaining with their insights and wit and joue de vivre. Their love and respect for Bangkok and it’s inhabitants really shines through. The show is very hand-in-glove, easy to listen to and a joy to listen to. I am an avid podcast listener, spending an enormous amount of time in my car, gardening, and cooking. For several months now, it has become my favorite podcast. If you are a new listener, I would strongly suggest just sticking with season three. It’s markedly better than the two prior seasons, which is a testament to both an improved cohost but also that through time and practice, Craig and Ed have honed their hobby/craft. What about if you have never been to Bangkok, or have little interest in the city of Bangkok? I am a little surprised that I feel this way, but I actually think this show is good enough that you should still give it a try even though it’s particular relevance to you might be low. Start with their season three interview of author Christopher G Moore, and follow that up with their show on Yaba and the drug trade (Their interviewee provides a perspective that I have never encountered before in popular media, a defense of the use of methamphetamine, and whether you agree or not with the interviewee, how great to be able to engage with thoughts and ideas that you normally don’t encounter). Perhaps not as good of a listen, but more of an important episode, the two part dive into the lives of expat women in Bangkok was one part therapy session and one part learning opportunity. I am frequently impressed with the shows that they crank out that are of such high content quality with what I imagine to be limited resources. In terms of areas for improvement, I would humbly suggest that Greg and Ed double down on their history episodes. They are edifying, and the topic matter is absolutely fascinating and tends to capture the imagination of the listener. The recent episode on the differences between Bangkok and Phnom Penh I hope is a harbinger for things to come, with inexpensive flights from Bangkok to so many exotic locales, I am anxious to hear similar episodes on comparing and contrasting Bangkok with Yangon, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Los Angeles (both cities being known as the city of Angels). Lastly, I’m not sure whether it’s criticism of praise, but the hosts tend to shy away from many of the stereo types of Bangkok, including the more more salacious nocturnal activities or the headline grabbing grit, violence, corruption, (not to mention political intrigue) that is not a great representation of Bangkok but still is a part of the city. Thanks for all the great listening time! John S

I've been working and traveling to since my first visit for work in 95. These guys bring you a different side of things. The interview with the CEO of HUBBA was fantastic and would love to see more like this with the next generation of Thai entrepenuers! Keep up the great work.

    This stop China. Next stop...
Really enjoy your poddies, guys! Only been to Thailand as a slow-travel tourist, but always looking for an excuse to go back. Since we have a small family now, it would be cool to hear more on buying a home and a bit about starting a business as a foreigner with/out a Thai spouse. Also it might be fun to hear about Thai humor- jokes, stories, etc. Thanks for always sharing great stuff each and every show! BJCaul

First Season Great. Reboot is Glib, Less Informative and Often Merely Snarky
The first season of the podcast is excellent and most episodes are even now well worth listening to. Informative and good natured. One of the oringal hosts - the mostly affable Greg Jorgensen- remains in the Season 2 reboot. The other original host - Tony Joh - has been replaced and the podcast is now far less informative. The current reboot instead is now all too often more like overhearing tacky tourists making snarky comments. Bangkok is now relegated to background. This may be necessary because Tony Joh's replacement isn't a long-time Bangkok resident and unfortunately brings a frustrating superficiality to the podcast. (Case in point: There's even an episode about why he can't be bothered to learn the Thai language. Similarly, he reports on a visit to a sacred tattoo ceremony, but could never be bothered to find out about "the guys wearing white". (!)) The podcasting equivalent of a tire salesman who decides to start selling aluminium siding because, well, "sales is sales." Podcasting about Bangkok - sure, easy peasy. While the first season included an informative segment about interesting things going on in Bangkok in the coming week, the currrent reboot has a weekly segment that are often tedious and all too often snarky -- to downright mean-spirited: "What is with those small paper napkins" "What is it with Thai people pushing elevator buttons" "What is it with all those comb-overs" etc., etc. Occasionally there are some decent interviews.

Great podcast for expats in Bangkok and Thailand
Just found your podcast after living in Thailand for a few years, first in Bangkok and now Chiangmai. Great podcast and I am happily listening to all the epsiodes to catch up. Would be an interesting episode around banking in Thailand and how difficult and at times silly the banks can be to deal with for expats who might be used to a more modern system? Or an episode about all the "cheap charlies" who live here and constantly moan about how its not "like home" but ... continue to live here. LOL Keep up the great work!

makes me feel like I am there
This podcast is informative, inclusive of a wide variety of Bangkok topics, and funny. I get a sense that the two hosts are kind people, which makes listening pleasurable. They get onto the nitty gritty of Bangkok and Thai life that a person would never get from reading a travel book or vacationing for two weeks. They make Bangkok come alive for someone listening on the other side of the world. So much so that I feel like I in 37 degree heat when in reality I am watching the snow come down in North America! This podcast has also made me thankful we don't have motorcycles driving on our sidewalks. This is all done in a culturally sensitive manner. They point out the differences in cultures without belittling either one. Job well done!

    Keeps me connected to BKK
You guys do a great job. I'm glad the podcast is back. I'm in California and regularly listen to you guys while sitting in the LA traffic. Curious if a lot of Thai people listen to the show (I'm Thai). Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm always looking out for a new episode!

    Most excellent podcast!
Tony and Greg's podcast has been invaluable to my month-long stay in Bangkok. Their easy-going, observant and inquisitive approach to understanding Thai culture and how things work in Bangkok makes this among the best podcasts I have listened to. I also like the Canadian perspective.

    top podcast on Bangkok
An intelligent and often funny look at Bangkok, for anyone interested in the city or in Thai culture generally. Long-term residents, business visitors, tourists, Thais themselves, or curious browsers should all be able to find something here. Presenters Tony and Greg are sharp, funny, informative and friendly. Their thoughtful interviews have focused on wide range of topics affecting foreigners in the Big Mango: finding a place to live, job-hunting, local transport, visa issues, personal safety, and nightlife and dating, to name just a few. Tony and Greg's obvious affection and respect for their host culture doesn't blind them to its faults, but they manage to avoid the pitfalls of starry-eyed exoticism or barfly whinging. This podcast provides insights which go beyond the cliches, exploring more complex areas such as religion, Thai language study, doing business, charity work, superstition, Thai politics, etc - all reflecting the interesting and varied backgrounds of their Thai and farang guests. I listened to all the episodes in about five days hahaa. High production values, interesting material, good fun.
