    Director Watch
So excited to see your next director is Nichols. He has such a swath of filmography and I hope you’ll cover his HBO adaptation of Angels in America. Please. My only nit-pick is that Mr. McQuaid has got to stop saying “you know what I mean.” Otherwise, bravo and keep up the great work from the entire team.
  • Bye Trump!
A Podcast in Dire Need of a Charismatic Leader
Ryan McQuade takes center stage as he talks over most of his guests, and when that’s not happening, you can almost here him waiting to say something. There is barely a moment that isn’t littered with his shameless self-aggrandizement. Meanwhile, his guests are less guests and mostly businessmen who come off drier than the Sahara desert. Meanwhile, Eric Anderson, who runs the podcast’s mothership, AwardsWatch, often has issues with his mic volume and offers the only personality in a sea of talking heads.

    Movies, Movies, Movies!
A great listen for fans of Oscar, and in general of movies. From the in-depth discussions, to the fun banter. I like the gay one with the new hair, and the Mexican one is great too! Would love to hear Joey Gentile on the show, I remember the banter and hilariousness of an Academy Queens episode with Erik & was an absolute blast.

Love the coverage of the awards races, new releases, and reviews of older films on Director Watch! A must-listen.

    Bad content
The hosts are a bunch of racist stuck up snobs.

    Wonderful show
Big fan of both Ryan and Jay. They do a wonderful job of finding new talking points on movies that have been talked to death. Their obvious camaraderie, paired with their engagement with their guests makes this show a must listen, whether you are into awards or not! PS, Ryan is my fave!

    A weekly must!
There are many awards podcasts on the internet but the AwardsWatch team continues to deliver the best show every single week. Love the discussions and the wide ranging opinions. Keep them coming.

    Good Content - Bad Hosts
I like the information and find it interesting and sometimes the analysis can be really fresh especially compared to other awards podcasts. The thing I can’t get over is how mean Ryan is sometimes. I’m not talking about his snark to his cohosts which can get really tired. But calling out other pundits, publications, and Twitter randos in bad faith is just upsetting. The Andrea Riseborough thing is a good example where he called people stupid for predicting her, and levied other personal attacks. Turns out he was just just wrong, loudly wrong. His golden globe predictions, also just proud, loud, confident, and wrong. I like everyone else on this podcast, but I’d recommend Next Best Picture over this. Also the episodes are wayyyy too long.

    Clueless hosts & poor editing
Decided to give this podcast a try amid the award season, but had to stop listening after they referred to 2 Black women missing the Best Actress category as “disappointing”, but implored listeners to celebrate “diversity” in other categories. One Black woman has won best actress in the history of the Academy Awards, and it’s because of people like the hosts that excuse these oversights by giving themselves a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum. Also, the episodes are way too long given that it’s mostly the hosts repeating each other over & over. The nomination predictions episode is a perfect example of this - do you really need each person to read all 10 of their predicted films when you all have the same 7-8?

    Entertaining though too long
Love listing about the movies and enjoy the games. Don’t enjoy the podcast cliches “chef’s kiss, “problematic”, “that being said” etc. Some overlap with Next Best Picture which tends to recycle these phrases. Another one is “co-sign”. It get a bid tepid when everyone agrees. Occasionally there’s a bit of TMI which leaves the listener out as if the guests are on a private call. Speaking of which lots of talk of their group chat. For some this might be a plus but with the length already being long these asides could be cut. The snark at times goes a bit overboard but overall I’m glad this podcast exists. Ryan is doing a good job and has a nice voice. Latest episode doesn’t recycle NBP podcasters. With an abundance of choices there are certainly lesser analysts.

    Loving the re-launch
With Ryan taking the reigns and involving the staff more, The AwardsWatch pod to a jump. Erik already had one of the best Oscar pundit podcasts, but with this crew it could be the best outright. Great stuff!

“this is the best podcast that’s ever been!”
Love the Awards Watch team! Not only great interviews, but incredible award season discussions. A mixture of well done research into past seasons, history of how certain types of films do with voting bodies and much more put into making their predictions! Mini cooper approved

    Stop. Coughing. Into. The. Microphone!
I normally enjoy listening to this podcast but it is so aggravating to hear Erik cough into the microphone over and over. Get a glass of water or cough to the side. It is loud and disgusting and detracts from your presentation.

    Love Erik and his coverage.
Besides the audio quality, this is one of the best podcasts out there. Erik not only has his finger on the pulse of current Oscar races, but knows his Oscar history as well. One of the few Oscar podcasts that don’t devolve into a rant about film twitter.

    Conference Call PTSD
I am not sure if it was the audio quality, but this entire episode (#78 Golden Globes) it sounded like someone was typing. The amount of annoyance I feel from conference calls at work where someone is barely paying attention and typing away totally eclipsed anything said in this episode. Unlke my job, in this case I was able to just shut if off.

    A must-listen for awards fanatics.
I highly recommend AwardsWatch. I listen to every awards podcast out there, and Erik’s is one of the best, if not the best there is. He’s knowledgeable, hilarious, and a blast to listen to. I always get excited to see a new pod from him. Thanks for the laughs and all the hard work you put into your site and this podcast.

Love Erik. Not a fan of Amanda at all.
Erik is cool. His website is pretty easy to navigate. I value his opinion. I like how they rank their predictions and give background and historical reasoning on their predictions. My BIG issue with this podcast and most awards prediction coverage is the lack of diversity. This lack of diversity can lead to insensitive comments as undervaluing certain individuals. On this podcast in particular, Erik doesn’t have a problem discussing race but Amanda clearly gets uncomfortable. She also makes micro aggressive comments and discounts Black and other POC nominees. Luckily, Erik checks her most of the time. For example, for a lot of the When They See Us nominees she says stuff like “they will just be happy to be nominated”. What? Some of these nominees have a great chance. Or when she said “we are tired of hearing Mahershala Ali give speeches” um girl, why? Very passive and micro aggressive. Would she say that about Coleman or Rockwell who might be giving speeches almost to back? Probs not.

    Good content, host needs work
I’m an Oscar geek and love to listen to people talk awards. And the content of AwardsWatch is good. But I think Eric needs work on hosting and presenting. It’s not his fault. People make careers out of this professionally. I would just love for him and the show to flow a bit better to make it an easier listen.

    The Best Film Awards Podcast
The best podcast for movie award nerds. Goes in-depth with predictions, statistics and the mood of the moment. Knowledgeable host Erik engages in and sets tone for smart, witty banter. Long running times may deter some but I find the episodes absorbing and particularly good for commuting. Always excited for the next one!

    A recorded phone call
Basically, you’re listening to a recorded phone call. The host is also pretty inarticulate.
