I really tried to like this show because so many fellow Catholics have recommended it. But it just falls flat for me. Maybe because I don’t like all the banter and chattiness? This felt a lot like overhearing a really loud couple sitting too close to you at a restaurant. Just not for me.

One tends to do it more than the other and sometimes I feel like a gold nugget is missed and I want to hear it and receive it. Love your conversations. However, Alicia’s mic during the podcast could be better. It was striking when you did the “commercial break” promo - it sounded so much smoother.

I am so glad for a podcast with husband and wife speaking together on topics. It gives a fullness of perspective, and they devote a good amount of time to WHY we want to improve in whatever marriage or parenting topic they are discussing. That’s so helpful before launching into what we can practically do. They are honest about the fact that different ideas work for different families, but again, I’m finding that the WHY is inspiring me to love my husband and my kids better. If you’re looking for some good advice from parents that are walking with you right now and who have more experience than you, this podcast is it!!!! Y’all really are the best!!!

When I first began parenting about ten years ago, I remember reading some book about how to “raise saints”— a catholic guide to (almost) perfect children. I internalized too much of that book— thinking it was MY job to turn my kids into saints. In reality, God uses your kids to slowly (and sometimes painfully) to convert YOU closer and closer to Him (if you cooperate!). This is one of the many profound insights messy family has helped me see. And it’s so liberating. And I’ve found so much more joy in parenting lately, even though our “burden” of the # of kids we have should (according to the world) be pushing us away from liberation/joy. Tuning into this podcast affirms and strengthens all this. Not to mention the million little nuggets of super practical bits of wisdom scattered throughout all the episodes. If you have littles at home, I recommend starting at the very first episodes back from 2015/2016/2017– those first few years are my favorite episodes overall.

My wife and I just refer to this as “the podcast” because it’s the only one we both like. We have incorporated a bunch of advice from Mike and Alicia. We don’t have any older brothers and sisters with kids, so it’s been great to hear their advice.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for over five years. As a very busy mom I don’t have time to keep up with many podcasts, but this is the one I squeeze in no matter what. The tips, advice, guidance, and challenges from a couple with many years of experience from “the trenches” of raising a family had been so uplifting and helpful. Mike and Alicia’s ministry is just what the Catholic Church needed. As a mom of 3, I needed advice and spiritual direction from a catholic family perspective. Podcasts are a simple way to reach me because finding time to read isn’t happening! I enjoy they’re prayers, research and most of all, honesty. I found this podcast when I was in a really bad place in my life and knew something was wrong. Their podcasts helped me understand the life I wanted to live and my responsibilities as a catholic parent. Listening to them has me on the right path to becoming the best example for my children.
