    Unlocking the Soul of Ascent
Rock climbing is more art than sport. Niall has committed to long form exploratory interviews with dedicated individuals. He does not capitulate (Sisu! [look it up]) to modern attention spans and conventional pentameter. These are conversations that are bold, irreverent and honest. Taken as a whole, each interview paints a large scale vibe that Isn’t exactly heard in each word but rather felt through a landscape. Niall’s genius is hard to pin down. I would say that his podcast casts a net and captures a rareness in modern media.

NAILL GRIMES IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. He will attempt to hoodwink you with his bumbling intros, improvisational nonsense, and bamboozling shifts in tone and content. These are in fact cooly calculated designs to create the most hilarious, engaging, and thoughtful podcast on the free podcast market. These designs have succeeded. Never miss an episode. You will love it. Thank you Naill, you devious genius.

The Taylor Parsons episode is amazing
One of the most humane and moving interviews I’ve ever listened to. Huge thanks to Taylor for sharing her story with such honesty and openness and to Niall for helping her share it with the world.

    The best podcast around
Niall is down to earth, funny, and creative. Listen if you want to be steeped in UK climbing lore. His is original wit, not canned bull. Seems like a great guy to get a pint with.

    Confession of a jamcrackhead
I’ve listened to a lot of climbing-related podcasts hosted by witty Irish guidebook authors. And this is the best of the lot. Stop reading reviews and download the thing already.

    Must Listen!
Niall is amazing! The only thing that could make this podcast better would be if he spent more time rambling on in the intro. Hilarious, fun, and occasionally deep.

    My favorite podcast!
Niall is a great interviewer. Always keeping the interviews hilarious and going way deeper than the usual climbing interview bs. Keep up the great work Niall! I am sharing this podcast with all the like minded climbers I know.

    Sound as a pound
Always great to hear these tales or interviews. Although the topics can range like mad they're always entertaining with a bit of good banter. Love the subject matter. All around great craic. Keep up the good work Grimer!

You will love it or hate it
The Grimer takes chances. Climbers reading short stories aloud. Intros that can veer into long (often funny) tales. Interviews with digressions and questions that are unexpected to say the least. Like when Grimer and the Wide Boys tried to cold call famous climbers... Most of the interview subjects will be better known to a british audience, but still worthwhile for a yank. The Tommy Caldwell interview (one of the first in the podcast) was by far the best I’ve heard. I eagerly await each episode- so get to work you slacker!

    A good chat
The podcast covers climbers primarily from the U.K. and EU while also showcasing a few North Americans as well. My least favorite part is Niells long intros which are undoubtedly funny but ramble on. By far my favorite aspect of the podcast are the short stories he and guests will read. They contribute a small slice of lore, lies, and adventure literature which imo is what climbing lacks these days.

    Super entertaining
This podcast is super good. Niall is funny and doesn't take himself too seriously. The readings are a nice change from the typical podcast. The episode with Alex Honnold is great where they're taking the piss out of each other. keep it up!
