doubledenimdykelive on even after gen Q!!!i love this podcast so much and would absolutely listen to the trio recap or discuss literally anything! i’d so love if the podcast continues even without more gen Q!

pnw24climberThere’s a reason this show was cancelledSurprised to see they’re still milking this podcast with the show dead and done. Can’t say I’m sorry to see this fall by the wayside along with the series. I actually didn’t mind the critical eye as the seasons progressed (unlike some other commenters) but in this last season in particular, that critical eye seemed to morph from being about the merit of the content into some wacko realm of performative political correctness. Which to be fair, is also the path autostraddle has chosen to take for some unknown reason. I for one would love to decouple being a lesbian with every other thing under the sun. Sometimes it’s just about being a plain old person who likes women and that’s it. The reason people aren’t supporting autostraddle and gen Q and this podcast, is because being queer doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with every other left of the norm thing one can think of. This lumping all the “others” into one basket is frankly dehumanizing. It’s the reason this kind of content fails. I don’t want to have to endure a conversation about fatphobia when I’m trying to hear about a frivolous gay hook up show about hot gays. No one should be fat. It’s not a matter of acceptance, it’s a matter of being healthy. And guess what, being fat has nothing to do with being queer. I wish content like this would realize their lane and stop trying to cover off on every niche corner of humanity.

Caroline Rose HIt had a strong startThe recaps of the original show were great. I always hoped Kristin would come back for a guest appearance but Carly was great. It was odd that Gen Q was originally Analyssa and Drew but then Riese became more and more present. Now Analyssa gets drown out by Drew and Riese. It’s really Riese’s show (the outro proves my point) costarring Drew where you can occasionally hear Analyssa’s perspective on sobriety, which I think is a good contribution, or simply agreeing with what is being said.

MobeckrugAvid listenerThanks for taking one for the team by watching and analyzing the show so I no longer need to! I started off watching Gen Q and enjoying it (and of course listening to the podcast alongside), but quickly got frustrated with the show as well. Y’all sum it all up every week with style, I get to avoid fomo and multitask while listening, & I don’t have to watch sloppy storylines mostly about traumatizing queer characters anymore. I watch ALOTO with my precious screen time instead. Much appreciated!!
-
nnaughtonIn defense of Drew!!!I used to be annoyed with how negative Drew could be, but this season of Gen Q has been such a disaster that her rage is actually quite cathartic for me! Like Riese said after Quality Family Time, I could not WAIT to listen to the pod afterwards because I knew they would air all my grievances and more. Tbh, let Drew write the next season Gen Q! (If it survives this disaster of a season)

alm2189A mustMy partner and I love this pod so much we’ll delay watching a new episode of the L word if we haven’t yet finished last week’s podcast episode. Thanks for all your hard work!
-
spicewonderGood recap, but …As a person with sensory issues, I am Unable to understand anything when all three of them speak over each other. The recaps are good, but sometimes they have a very insular view of things. Also JFC WHY IS DREW SO NEGATIVE, ANNOYING, AND COMPLETELY ONE-MINDED. I wish they’d just go.
-
TaraD01Love the show…The hosts are so funny and clearly very intelligent. I really appreciate their insights. Just wish there wasn’t so much negativity from Drew. It’s okay to be honest but she just seems so irritated with the most aspects of most of the episodes.
-
AnnaRam08The people do NOT want Drew! The original L Word recap with Riese and Carly was HILARIOUS. Had me literally laughing out loud while listening to every episode. However, like the overwhelming amount of reviews have started, Drew is a horribly negative addition to the Gen Q recap. She is so negative that it makes it hard to come back. Also, she and Analyssa have stated they never even watched the original L Word all the way through. Riese, please find better co-hosts, we beg you!!
-
BrendaLPGAGood content but…I urge the creators to play back the Locked Out episode. Every other word used is “like”. It was like so frequent that like I couldn’t like focus on their like perspectives.
-
blaireli000AwesomeKristin pulled a Marina and left after season one 🥵 (although Kristin was definitely more likable than Marina!) Love listening to Riese, Carly, and all their guests. This has been my go-to podcast for years and always makes me laugh.

Em4ElHope there’s moreThis show is hilarious. Went back and relistened and enjoyed it, but I find the host Drew too negative and a bit annoying. Earlier seasons give criticism but in a funnier way and that takes the time into account. The show warrants some criticism, but they can’t find a positive thing to say. Would love for the show to continue though and will keep listening. This is why we can’t have queer shows- the queer audience is way too critical and can’t accept that it can’t do all things. Let’s go back to the original formula and get rid of hosts who actually hate the show.

LeftenantOlympus2nd Run ThroughThis show is fantastic I’m on my second run through of L and Back. Such a good podcast to listen to while at work. All of the host are hilarious and dreamy. However, I do wish there was more episodes with Kristin Russo, though I do get to enjoy her over on Buffering. Great show ladies and everyone else. What’s next Riese?
-
Prison masterFantasticThis show is hilarious! They are smart, funny, and relatable. I wish they would go over PLL next, however I don’t know if the human psyche could handle that! Anyway I highly recommend!
-
Tamarab1980Thank YouDrew is such a delightful host on Wait is this a Date that I had to check out this podcast when I heard she was a host. I greatly enjoy your 3 perspectives and think the honest critiques are valuable. When you care about something you want the best for it. We don’t need to be blindly thankful. Your ideas for ways the show could be strengthened are interesting and I enjoy hearing them. Drew is such a natural podcast host bringing smiles/fun energy that you can hear. Working from home getting this youthful upbeat vibe through Drew’s podcasts brightens my day! Thank you!!!

JadeCooleyWayyyy too criticalI used to really like this show when they were reviewing the original series. They would give interesting facts and connect story lines and had guest hosts come on. But the way they pick apart every single little second of Gen Q is almost impossible to listen to. I love the hosts but I do not love the negativity and overly critical reviews. Also it’s not fun to listen to a podcast that starts with the hosts saying the title while sounding like they would rather be doing anything but this.
-
sarahcatherine77Too NegativeI have listened to every episode of this podcast - OG and Gen Q - and while I have enjoyed it the Gen Q season 2 recaps have become something I can't stand to listen to. The hosts have every right to critique the show as much as they want, but it simply is not interesting to hear them say "I hated this" before every single scene. While there is plenty I didn't enjoy about this season, I personally feel that there is still plenty to love and appreciate. I just wish they would balance those two things rather than leaning fully into their own criticism.
-
Melidsa061681TerribleIt’s all about being politically correct. They don’t care about any of the original cast. They hate Tibette?! They only seem to love the trans stars and constantly say the original show was problematic. We get it…you’re so woke. Also, Drew is also a terrible addition this season. Get rid of him.

LexiLuLu348“How Did This Get Made”, but with lesbiansThis is better than “Pants”

Notaboomer66EntitledI tried listening to this and just cannot tolerate the negativity. I think the hosts are snotty entitled millennials or Gen Z who have no appreciation for the creators and writers of the original L Word. This was a groundbreaking show giving visibility to the lesbian community 20 years ago. Who do you think you are criticizing the writing and the filming? Last I checked, none of you have your names attached to anything groundbreaking or worthy of praise. Until you’ve walked in the shoes of those who had to navigate coming out 20 years ago, keep your opinions of the show to yourself. I imagine that the people who love your podcast are entitled Millennials, too. You have no idea how easy you have it now and the L Word played a significant part in that.
-
camillefromseattlePlease less tangentsUsually fun and entertaining but please edit out some of the random unrelated tangents. I fast forward through them but it’s kind of annoying. I just want to hear the recap. Thanks
-
NazzzahDelightfulLove it. Drew, you’re great, don’t listen to the haters
-
amgl5Not the same at allCarly and Riese’s banter was so wonderful and warm, and the new Q crew just feels disconnected and lacking passion. Bring back the OG folks, and put the Q additions on their own new pod!
-
Fjm1224The ultimate escapismI don’t know why anyone would spend so much time watching the L word, but I am so so glad that they do. Absolutely hilarious and cathartic.
-
AL!!!😺The recaps are amazing!!!!I really appreciate the Taylor Swift to L word pipeline podcast reference in the most recent post! 😺
-
WilpudI can’t deal with DrewThe OG recaps were fine but Drew absolutely ruins the Generation Q shows. Such a disappointment
-
amyquispeNever unsubscribeThis podcast keeps on giving!
-
LeeleesixtyHmmGood podcasts ! The Gen Q season 2 ep 1 recap kinda threw me off doe…glossed over the fact that Lena Waithe character shed light on some real issues and tried to down play that whole scene in my opinion. I honestly enjoyed seeing Lena Waithe in the show.
-
CLH0713Let’s not•during the original series recaps they gave major spoilers for gen q out of nowhere without any warning. Super annoying!! •their callback jokes got old SO FAST!! The butterfly thing? 🙄🙄🙄 •the worst of it for me was when they had a guest on who was in the military - I’m sure they knew this - the next episode they went on a tirade about how awful the military is and how little respect they have for people’s choice to be a soldier, blah blah. It felt so incredibly disrespectful. Bring it up with your guest, don’t have the guest, or don’t go on a rant about the military. It was so tacky, it made me so mad. •I couldn’t even get through the first episode of the gen q recaps because of all the “like”s. It was like super like hard to like listen to ‘cause like every sentence was like this like... ugh, completely insufferable.

jamesrosedewittMakes mondays my favorite dayI’ve never loved a podcast more!
-
caitlyndanelleThey’re ruining it in in the last seasonI used to love this podcast. Binged the whole thing in a couple of months. But during season 6, it’s obvious that the hosts no longer care. It feels like they’re dragging their feet through each episode and it ruins the fun of it. Very disappointed that the wrap up of this show is almost unlistenable.
-
Reyah69babyHilarious content :)Awesome podcast! I really loved the show but you guys keep it real by also pointing out all of the flaws. Your guys’ humor is ON POINT. So happy you guys are doing S6! Can’t wait until “Last Couple Standing”! ❤️ 😉
-
oboeayyValidating for transI am watching season 6 for the first time and I’m going to need to stop watching ahead of the pod because the treatment of Max (among the other problems with this season) are making me feel terrible. But then this podcast is so validating and affirming of why we have such a complicated relationship with this show and it’s history. I really love listening to them analyze it.
-
E/9384$;&;@/"10can’t wait for season 6!!!i LOVE this podcast. the hosts are funny and i think strike the right tone for how bad the show is. i can’t wait for season six because it’s the only one i haven’t watched myself and am not going to but want closure!
-
oooda01Good!I really like!

Labrys7575TRASHIf you enjoy listening to the PC Police rip apart, dissect, and trash every syllable spoken, every camera angle shot, every haircut, every costume/set choice, in this iconic series, then this podcast is for you. They seem to forget that the series was released nearly 2 decades ago, and its is because of TLW that the LGBTQ community has made the enormous strides we enjoy today. Yet, the host spend most of their time talking about everything the series got wrong. They examine thru a 2020 lens which is unfair and unrealistic. Also, their upspeak voices are grating and their plethora of inside jokes, annoying af. ✌🏽

Jeanne ObbardLively, Laughing, L’AutostraddleRemember that Betty song? Remember how hot Shane was? If you’re still having arguments with your pro-Jenny or anti-Jenny friends, this podcast is for you. Relive The L Word’s best and worst moments with very funny hosts Riese and Carly, and some equally charming guest stars who are specially chosen to provide context on some of the show’s outdated politics. No rose-colored glasses, but a wry and appreciative appraisal of the groundbreaking 2004-2009 Showtime series. Just as Riese’s dream is to be invited to Ilene Chaiken’s house, it is my fondest wish to be a guest on this podcast.
-
Yardgal33For the original l word onlyLove the reviewers and guests. I legit laugh out loud and relive all the memories from the show. I wish the reviewers of the original l word could review gen q or at least get someone else. Drew has her moments, but she doesn’t do it for me.
-
Awful 🙄Laughing out loud!I’ve watched this show a few times through, but now watching the episodes AFTER listening the recaps from you ladies is even better. I can’t stop laughing whenever I listen! Please do the Real L Word next!!!
-
Babe trutherLearned a lotI’ve never watched the L Word, but I look forward to every episode of this podcast, possibly because I have no idea what will happen next, also because the hosts are entertaining. Thank you for helping me understand this cultural touchstone that will likely NEVER be a personal priority of mine to experience for myself. Also I liked the Generation Q hosts, and I hope they come back for season 2! Ignore the rude reviews!
-
skyelliott8This podcast is a giftThis podcast has been perfectly timed with the worst of the pandemic. Nothing has eased my anxiety more than listening to jokes about an old tv show. Slipping into the l word universe is a tonic for these times. The hosts are very funny and create runny bits that I get excited for (WAX!). The show also does a good job of addressing all the problematic content of the show. They are very intentional about giving the marginalized communities, which the show messes up royally, a voice on the podcast. They also pay their contributors while being a bootstrap media org. Respect.

erinmcblauLove itLove it. I love reliving the original L Word in this smart, sassy and funny podcast. This is actually the first podcast I’ve liked that includes hosts just talking in free form (as opposed to a set story). Riese is very clearly the star of both the L Word recap and Gen Q - she’s just laugh out loud funny and love the way she talks (something about how she says “you know” I just love 🤣). But really they’re all great! Carly is also super funny and I like the Gen Q hosts a lot! Why are people knocking on Drew? She has great insights! Also I think it was so important to have younger hosts for Gen Q. It’s just hard to compare because Riese is a star, but people need to chill. The Gen Q hosts are great and I’m sure will only get better.

JayYouElleEyeEeeLoveLook forward to new episodes every week
-
jmangeloI Laugh Out Loud Every TimeThe L Word — flaws and all — was the first series to show a full cast of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender characters. The Gen Q reboot led me back to the original. Thank you To L and Back for insight, interviews, and hilarious commentary on the pros and cons of the original series. There is a lot of blame to go around. By the way, I liked Tina in the original. Please do not think less of me.
-
fallpartykateLove ItI love show review podcasts and I found this one from listening to Buffering the Vampire Slayer. Love it! It's a great listen even though we all know that The L Word is more often than not less than great. The hosts are funny. Some people didn't enjoy the Gen Q reviewers, I liked them fine. Just skip those 8 episodes if they aren't for you, no need to down vote the entire podcast. I've recommended this show to basically everyone who mentions that they have started watching The L word, which has been like 3 people lol Three more seasons to go!
-
Melise B.Forever my favorite podcastI look forward to this legit every week. Thank you for perfectly encapsulating my every thought of this show. You guys are my faves.
-
USA rulzRiese is the bestI’ve listened to all of the original recaps at least 3 times each now, it’s one of the best and funniest podcasts out there. Gen Q was pretty good when Riese was on but Drew is just way too annoying to listen to them more than once. So excited that the originals are back!!
-
Whasupppp216Two podcasts5 stars for the regular recaps and no stars for Gen Q recaps. Unfortunately those just didn’t do it for me. But the L word episodes make me lol.
-
zohannaaahFun and sillyI disagree with just about every take the GenQ hosts have, but I still love their recaps and looked forward to them every week. A fun podcasts regardless of hosts!!
