I so love this podcast I just hate how many ads there are. Seeing that the episodes aren’t that long.

    Too many commercials
I like the podcast however I feel like it’s more commercials than anything the episodes are already short.

I love this show! We need representation of our people in cases like this that don’t get media exposure. Keep up the good work.

    Great podcast
I’ve been listening to your podcast for a year and really enjoying the episodes, and the black history. Today’s story about the lynching’s were so heartbreaking. I really don’t know what happens to white people that makes them so violent! Thank you for telling these stories, history is so important!

    True crime
I love true crime podcasts. They help me sleep at night and just fun to hear on general. The host is very good; her soothing, calm voice never fails at relaxing me. It also is very good at shining a spotlight of African Americans who’s cases go unproved by most. Thanks for all you do, host!!

    Compassionate Storytelling
Amara does a an amazing job telling the stories of these women and bringing awareness to these cases. Sometimes I feel like I am listening to a novel when I play this podcast because of the eloquent, thought writing and Amara’s voice that is perfect for narration.

    Great podcast!
I like the story telling and conversational style Amara uses. There's no weird music or sound effects. Just her great voice. She's compassionate and thorough when reporting on difficult and tragic cases.

    Great podcast but…..
I love this podcast but the host needs to remember not to let her voice “disappear” as she ends her sentences. Otherwise, this is truly a great one. I look forward to each week’s episode.

    I like the podcast BUT
I do like the podcast like I really do. It’s just something is off. I’m not sure if she needs to broaden her vocabulary or something, but the way she’s always repeating the same words is off putting. I hope this doesn’t sound mean.

I love the fact that this podcast shines light on cases of black girls and women that may not get national media coverage. And black girls go missing and killed every day

    We needed this
I’ve delved into a plethora of podcast centered around missing Black girls, but none have resonated with me quite like Black girl gone . What sets this podcast apart is the absence of personal opinions on the victims, no unnecessary gossip, and thorough research into each case . This podcast is not just important, it’s essential on shedding light on the fact that the disappearance and murder of Black women and children is a matter of public safety. Amara is doing a fantastic job, and I’m grateful for her efforts .

    Just the facts
I appreciate that you separate your thoughts from the facts of the case. When you tell the stories of these women and girls you give the facts as they can be found or have been released. Then you and your husband do the recap where you insert your opinions and thoughts. I really appreciate that. I also REALLY appreciate that your focus is on people of color. Often our stories are overlooked because well …… America. Most of these stories I’m learning about here on your show. You’re doing an amazing service please keep up the good work.

    Very important
Finally someone exposing the women of color that are over looked, when the white, blonde, blue eyed, rich women stay in the spotlight for years. Great work!

    Highly Recommended
Amara is such a great story teller. With each episode you can tell she has spent time researching is very intentional about the story she crafts. Her voice is soothing, even while telling often horrific stories. She is very thoughtful and tactful in her delivery, every time. Currently binge listening.

    Really want to like
I want to like and support this podcast because of its cause, but the research is subpar. For example, in the Bernita White episode, the host states that she was shot from more than 100 feet away when it was 100 yards away… she also missed other details in the case. Please try to improve your research as this podcast has potential.

    Great Crime Podcast!
I am a true crime junkie … I love her podcasts and cases she covers! I am always intrigued when I find cases on some of the ID channel shows. And I know if I ever go missing or something happens I would want my story to be told by Amara!

A heart that hurts, has hope for our black girls gone
Hello Amara, I am a fan of true crime mostly to see the justice system process, hear from families, and see justice. However, I was unaware of your podcast until a few weeks ago and it is absolutely amazing to hear your heart, passion, and research presents in such a way that I pray every one of our back sisters, daughters, mothers, friends cases are solved. That care, divinity and respect is given to search, investigate, and bring justice to our “cousins” they same way national attention is brought to others. We are one; we are humans, and every person who looks like me, my sisters, children, deserve to have the same level of justice. Thank you for keeping the name, life, and story alive.

    Thank you
Omg! I really enjoy listening to this podcast. I really appreciate you on covering these stories on black women. Some stories I’ve heard of and others I haven’t. I really really appreciate you!!

    FANTASTIC SHOW!! Extremely well done.
  • BossBellaX
    Very interesting & informative
Great podcast!!! Very interesting & informative. Cases that need to have exposure & attention are given both. Although very sad & heartbreaking, the way these true stories are told brings clarity & much needed attention to the cases spoken about. Keep up the amazing work you are doing. If it was not for you, I would not have known about half of these true stories. Thank you.

So many ads but wonderful storytelling.
Exactly what the title says. The stories are great, and I actually appreciate them being a bit shorter now (according to other reviews) because it’s easy to get through a story and devote attention to it without having to pick back up at a later date, etc. I love your voice & I love the way you get right to the point and share what happened to this beautiful women. My only quibble are the ads. I’m not lowering my stars because I really understand getting your bag and I respect that you must make money to keep up this great work, but it is quite tedious to have a 3:00+ break in the middle of the story as WELL as at the beginning of the show. But this is life, and I get to enjoy this for free because of it, so it is what it is! Thanks for this podcast!

    Love the podcast miss afterthoughts
I have been listening to this podcast for about 6 months and I have heard them all. My favorite part was the afterthoughts because it allowed for a level of discussion after the information dump of the case. I hope it comes back but either way, I support y’all!

    Long time fan
This true crime show remains one of the few that sticks to the facts & remains fair & balance. Yet it’s still so interesting. Love listening to the cases that get highlighted, the tone of the author. One of my must listens for year

I love this podcast i just started watching this in probably April and all these stories are just sad and horrific Thanks for shining light on these cases it really pisses me off when some cases are just unsolved or the police are not taking it serious. And most of these stories are about teenage girls and a kid it just upsets me because a kid doesn’t deserve to get killed epescially alianna defreeze she was just a innocent kid
  • MelaninMonr0e
    Once good now just meh
The episodes are getting SHORTER and the ads are getting LONGER! (45 mins to 30mins). Also, there seems to be lack of actual work done to search the cases and seemingly only relying on published material i.e. true crime episodes. If the time and passion isn’t going to be consistent it’s best to just call it. It does a disservice to the women and girls, honestly.

Your voice is too low and we can hardly hear
I love the podcast and I know the host has somewhat of a deep voice but I don’t know what happens because during commercials she is loud and clear but when she is telling the story her voice goes very low and it is hard to hear. I have to have my volume turned all the way up and even then sometimes it is hard to understand.. that is my only complaint. Other than that love the podcast!
  • FNOMINL
    I appreciate the exposure!
Black women going missing g receive so little attention! Confirming what we know about bro g Black in America. We don’t doubt! I completely appreciate this sister’s commitment to shining a light and seeing us! I have to admit though, her staccato manner of speaking is irritating! I I lthink she is getting better though! Recent interviews are t as extreme and sound a little more natural of a way to speak!
  • Bkaquestar16
    I love murder mysteries
This is on e if my favorite shows to listen to while I’m at work . The host does such a great job telling the stories and advocating for the victims . I can’t get enough.

    Too close to home
I’ve been listening for a while and love it! The Sherri case is located 30 mins away and I’ve never heard of it. Now, I’m curious how many cases are close by. Thank you sharing all these tragic stories.
  • OlamideJas
    Great Work
I appreciate the work that goes into finding and telling the stories of black girls and women. I really wish that you would talk to and incorporate interviews with friends/family to break up the monotony of hearing just one voice. Overall a great podcast!
  • Sophie1913
    Love this pod
This podcast does a great job of telling stories of true crime of people of color. The stories are told with respect and dignity to the victims which I find important. She tells stories of people that do not get enough attention! It is much needed, thank you for telling our stories in a respectful way!
  • Queennie1
    Keep up the great work
I love this show. I did not have any idea that there are so many “black girls gone”. I have told so many people about this show. Keep up the great work these stories need to be heard.

    Episode suggestion
Hello, I love your show and have been considering asking you to do a story on Clarinda Holcomb. She was a mother of three small girls and was murdered after watching their father being killed in front of her by a man named Reginald Green. Not sure how much you can find on the story he was the son of my cousin who is now raising his granddaughters. We life in a world where people should be ashamed to f how they handle the cases of those of us that are black and brown. I appreciate you telling the stories that most of us would never know about if it were not for people like you and your husband. Thank you 🙏🏼
  • Tisha Maree
    Love the podcast
Love this podcast && how it brings awareness to so many black && brown girls that go missing without any new coverage.. Most of these stories I’ve never heard.
  • PoisonIvey08
    Needs Improvement
I used to really love this show because it was one of my first experiences with Black true crime and highlighted stories other podcasts didn't. However, now that other podcasts have come out I realize that this podcast doesn't go into the story or give as much context. I think if you're going to tell the story you should do a little more research and provide more info other than that the crime occurred.

    The fake voice
The voice is annoying. I tried to listen. And I don’t mean to be rude. It’s like she’s trying to hard to sound proper. I love the theme of the podcast. I love the stories. But the fake voice makes it unbearable for me….
  • Trixxie28
    It’s Okay so far…
I’ve listened to a few episodes so far, having found this podcast 2 days ago. I love that cases about black and brown women who are often forgotten about in the media is highlighted on here and I love learning about their stories, but theres no in-depth research regarding their stories. Also, the editing is a bit off as certain parts are repeated or just downright cut off. Trying to be fair, this is the first 10-15 episodes I’m talking about. I’ll come back and edit once I listen more. Editing is still off. The flow of the show has gotten better but the editing is a problem for me. Edit: 04/2024: I’m still a listening and the editing has gotten significantly better! I also love that you include solved stories. Thanks Amara!
