    I’ll pass.
Too snarky. Too familiar. Too willing to shill. Then adding a person from a failed pod isn’t a great move.

    Lesley Goldberg is back!
I began listening to The Ankler Podcast a few months ago and enjoyed it enough to listen to it occasionally. However, when I heard Lesley Goldberg had resurfaced after TV’s Top Five, I was stoked to hear her on the Ankler. Now, I never miss a show & always look forward to when the next episode drops because of Lesley. She’s a great reporter, sharp as a tack, funny, compassionate & ran my favorite podcast. The Ankler scored when they brought in Lesley.

    Positively delightful!
The Ankler is my favorite podcast about the film/TV industry. I love the 360-degree view from all the hosts, and the humor. Every week I laugh out loud. I especially enjoyed Richard's episodes about the 90s. I only wish The Ankler came out twice a week (or more)!

    Essential and entertaining
I look forward to this show every Friday morning! Our Ankler friends bring a human perspective to this crazy business we’ve all gotten ourselves in, and are all genuinely charming!

I just can’t deal with men like Richard
I started listening to this podcast because I love “inside Hollywood” podcasts and I was hoping to hear Katey Rich (I miss her so much on Little Gold Men). But I just can’t keep going. I was listening to the episode discussing the dueling Lively-Baldoni lawsuits and Richard admitted he doesn’t know the details of the dispute. Then he tried to claim that the rumor mill can’t destroy people’s careers (ignoring everything we’ve learned thanks to the MeToo movement). And when Elaine tried to gently educate him, he came back with the classic male response - based solely on his personal experience, with a complete refusal to learn from his co-host or the past eight years, and dismissing women’s experiences and problems - and proceeded to give his opinion as if it was objective truth instead of an ignorant opinion. I can’t waste any more time listening to people like him. I just wanted others to know first what to expect before I said goodbye to this show.

Sharp and funny analysis from seasoned pros!
Gives me the entertainment news I need to know from charismatic and informed hosts
  • KCgraphix
Informative but lacks consistency and the episode titles are misleading
They titled their most recent episode “AI Stole My Scripts” but they only covered it in the last 15 minutes of a 54 min episode. There are also too many hosts and guests speaking during an episode and is distracting.

    I enjoy this podcast
Is very entertaining I like it

    Horrible
Horrible to have a guest who supposedly has an opinion about someone she has not met. Tina Brown is problematic!!

    Oh my God
Oh my God, how cringe! Hollywood wannabe reporters trying to be funny. About as tasty as chewing carton and as boring as watching Iger doing an interview. Cartoonish is not far from this
  • mari_hendrix
    Very enjoyable and informative
Hosts have genuine chemistry and the conversations are informative. I do wish they would go into more deeply but perhaps that's what their paid content is for
  • NiaEdwards
    Not worth the listen
I don’t understand the point of this podcast. They just seem to reference that you should read their articles online but don’t actually discuss anything of substance or give you any new info. Waste of time.

    What an absolutely unhinged show
Came to this podcast for an episode titled “what the heck is undeniable TV?” Instead of remotely addressing that question (absolutely zero insights), they brought on an “expert” who tried to discuss the state of the Democratic Party and in doing so said there is NO SUCH THING as Islamophobia - just antisemitism - and that the “problem” is that the left fails to denounce terrorism. Really? That’s the problem? Not that a live-streamed gen0cide is occurring before our eyes, sponsored by Joe Biden and his goons, and that millions upon millions of people are watching it? The “expert” went on to cite destruction of private property (flags) in New York as a huge problem to be cracked down on, all as Isr@el is literally flattening the majority of buildings of G@za along with their inhabitants, the rest of whom are starving to death. This is exactly why democrats are going to lose in 2024. Oh yeah she also said the most interesting thing about AOC is her lipstick. Get rid of “strategists” like these. Republicans can have them. They’re completely out of touch with reality. Do better.

Monomaniacal Identitarian Lens - pretty good entertainment news
These people are stuck in a bubble. They discussed antisemitism in the Hollywood giving everyone a pass while their perceived ideological opponents must be skewered for lesser crimes. They mention blacklists and how terrible the silencing is because of the Israel/Palestine but fail to mention the many years of similar conservative treatment. This show has a narrow minded view of diversity, only looking at race and gender provides faux diversity. There’s more differences within groups than between groups. It would be a better show if they would find difference points of view regardless of identity and didn’t mention race/gender at all. Pretty good entertainment news, interviews, and explanation of the biz.

These aren’t the shows you’re looking for.
UPDATE: Ive lowered my rank from 2 stars to 1. This show leaves me with wanting something of more intelligence. So far all I’ve heard are more clueless libs talking about an industry from inside their bubble with bad mics. It’s 2023. Get better mics and sound treat your rooms. Or stop being cheap and have someone audio engineer your episodes. But that won’t help the pointless dribble that is talked about on this show. UPDATE: I’ve tried time and time again giving this podcast a try, but it’s no use. These people are literal dip$h!ts. They have no clue what the rest of the country’s temp is on any topic. They are so laser focused on the woke trash issue the rest of our country doesn’t give a crap about. It goes to show that most of Hollywood is clueless and part of the woke disaster that is the Libtard/DEMONcratic party. They even sound vaccinated. Do bother listening to these people. There are plenty of less woke podcasts talking about Hollywood and how it can change.

    Sound, sound, sound
The sound quality is awful. Some speakers are hesitant. Podcasting is FM radio. If the speech is annoying, the recording bad, the content is wasted.

    Please!
The women giggle too much. One of the men stammers (hate to sound petty but it’s a podcast after all). Too bad, because the content is often interesting.

    Get rid of Martini Shot
The podcast is great other than the “Martini Shot” episodes.
  • Fix the website to
    Great show, needs some polish
I love The Ankler and am a subscriber. The pod is a great extension of the newsletter BUT it needs some TLC, particularly on the script they read in the intro . We’re passed the point of needing to explain what the podcast is and it sounds so forced/scripted. I cringe every time. This is a Paramount-like shortfall.
